Dealing with declining clients and their family
So this is kind of a vent post. I’ve been working with my client for over 2 years now and she has been slowly on the decline ever since she had pneumonia. Her family has been very overbearing when it comes to micromanagement, messaging me on days off about every small thing, and complaining about there being ‘no food in the house’ after I was on vacation and not there for 2 weeks. This has been ongoing the past two years but it’s gotten even worse recently. Her two sons are in their 70s so obviously they’re not in the best shape either! They both live out of state but manage to cause and me and my client trouble almost every day. It’s not that they’re unsatisfied with the care I give their mother. They just want me to do stuff that isn’t my job! Take the car to the shop, do this do that and i’m so sick of it! Since my client is on the decline as well, she has been misremembering everything and stressed herself out over everything and telling her family members a lot of stuff that doesn’t happen. I know it’s part of the job but it’s at the point where they think i’m an actual slave to their mother! I can deal with my client deteriorating, i just can’t deal with the family on top of that.
