I know this is TV and we have to turn our brains off to alot of shit, but something always bothered me. I feel especially for that time period Kanans disrespect and disloyalty towards his mom was unrealistic. If we're talking about a boy raised by that old school generation in the black community I just don't see it. It's even weird how the streets accept it. In real life, I feel like Snaps and Pops no matter how much they hate Raq, wouldnt respect Kanan turning on his mother, they damn sure wouldn't have trusted him. Especially after he dropped Ronnie for coming at Raq, that would've been a red flag that he'd stand on business for blood. Making moves with your mom's opps is a sin now and even more unfathomable back then. The old generation stood ten toes down about kids staying in the place and its crazy how much they let Kanan get away with going against the family, well before Season 5. Oddly enough, it was a person outside the black community in the streets (STEFANO) who checked Kanan when they first met about going against his mother. He even respected Kanan standing up for his mom at the end and let Raq live.
Were they rocking cornrows like that in the early 90s? Random question thats been on my mind, I was born in the late 90s so I wasn't around. Breeze's clothing is accurate but I feel like they weren't rocking cornrows like that especially in 1993. Late 90s early 2000s tho definitely. Old heads chime in🤣.
This may be a question for longtime fans only, but which seasons were your favorite watching in REAL TIME? By the time I got interested in the L&O universe, the OG show was getting ready to end. Since I caught on and started watching reruns years later, I always wondered which seasons were must see TV at the time they were airing in the 90s and 2000s. TV has changed alot in the last 30 years, when I do watch I mostly stream it next day. Some of you were lucky enough to watch the OG in its prime and I'd love to know what stuck out to you watching live back in the day?
I LOVE when the crew tackles cold cases! I love it when the episode starts with one case and the story unravels into an even deeper unsolved murder. My favorites are
Bedtime (s.11 ep. 18)- so many twists and turns until the very end. I never would've suspected the retired cop helping them all along was one of Cal Cutler's sidepieces. All the 70s alumni actresses fit the story and were great too.
Persona (s.10 ep. 8)- what started off as the typical Domestic Violence episode ended with one of the most memorable stories on the show. Linnie living with Mia felt symbolic to me that Linnie couldn't run from her past no matter what. I sympathize with Linnie, she escaped from going to prison but had to spend 35 years living in fear and isolation to avoid being caught. In a great twist Judge Donnelly (one of my favs) is linked to the old case and ties into the story. The ending is bittersweet as Linnie gets acquitted but loses her husband who she spent their whole marriage lying to.
Ballerina (s.10 ep. 16)- one of the best Law and Order episodes period. Carol Burnett and Matthew Lillard go way outside their normal range and gave us 2 of the craziest characters we've seen. Birdie was a twisted but loveable black widow. I feel like she would've never been happy with most of her husband's as she really wanted the surrogate husband she raised, her own nephew! Chet never felt love from his birth mother so he sought that feminine connection from Birdie but it manifested into something wayy different.
These are just a few, but there were plenty more. We're going to ignore the character assassination of Dana Lewis tho😂😂. What is your favorite cold case episode?
