Please I need help for my 16 yrs son/ irritated peristomal skin for more than 2 months!

Hello ostomates,

My son is 5 months since he had his subcoloctomy after 5 years illness from UC, he has an ileostomy now. The first month and recovery were good, and then it started going down hill, his skin is very irritated (one dermatologist says it's part of his eczema another one says allergic dermatitis, other said contact dermatitis etc.)

Sometimes also because of the condition of the skin we had some leaks due to bad wafer adhesion.

Therefore, We were told by dermatologists to use potent steroid for a while and once we stopped; it's back again and so on.

In couple occasions we had to go for ER to get IV antihistamine for how itchy it was!

I tried all the common and uncommon method known among ostomates. WCN were helping in the beginning but after they stopped really care that much they used to rush us during appointments and told me you need to keep trying, it is trial and error.

We tried colosplast initially (this brand was the kick off of the irritation) now we are using conavtec durahesive and yet the skin is not happy also we tried hollister Ceraplus but had reaction because of the tape borders.

Anyone who been through similar situation or anyone that has a different opinion/ solution; i would really appreciate any help as this is affecting the quality of life for the whole family.

Thanks in advance!
