Zombie Badge Info Dump

[ FIELD REPORT #004 ]

Sti... tracking... signal. Getting closer...Both objects... I've... worki... through the architect... I know who built the...

[ H4irl1n3 M0gg3r5 ]

We'll take it from here.

Two objects. ESP32-S3. IR. NFC. BLE. One transmits. One was built to counter it. What happens when they meet in the field is infectious.

The silkscreen means something. The buzzer tells you when something bad is close. Pay attention to it.

The CTF lives in the firmware. Multi-stage, not solo-completable, real protocols. The backend has pages you can't reach without earning them.

A twist to the game: the H4irl1n3 M0gg3r5 crew roams the floor as live transmission zones. Stay near us too long and your badge flips. Cure Stations are fixed somewhere at the venue. Not on the map. Medkits are hidden as 3D-printed props. Some aren't medkits. The shell is identical but somethings different.

There is also a SAO. A brain in a jar. Tap it. Something happens to every transmission object in range. Wear it at your own risk.

DEF CON 34. August. Las Vegas.

Little teaser for the second badge we made

[ FIELD REPORT #003 ]

Recovered the second object.

Found what they built to stop it. But the transmission can still reach it.

Someone built it specifically to counter the first object.

Not a variant. Not another version. A completely different system designed to neutralize what the first one does.

You have to unlock the cure. It can reverse what the first one carries. But looking at the architecture — the transmission can still reach it. It can still get infected.

When they meet I don't know what happens. But I have a bad feeling it can get worse.

The specs are there. This wasn't a backup plan. This was built from the ground up as a response.

[ NEXT OBSERVATION PENDING ]

*PS - each post is a little short story I have been writing in prep for these badges, I will be posting all details about how to get one of these badges, about the game we have created, and all other details as we get closer. To answer the question I keep getting - THESE WILL BE GIVEN AWAY, No purchase necessary. We will be doing random drops, puzzles, and fun little interactions to get them into the hands of the people! Stay tuned for more!

Defcon34 badge project early look

got my hands on one of the objects two days ago. didn't write right away because i wanted to sit with it first. figure out what i was actually looking at.

still not sure. but here's what i know.

the data is printed right on the hardware. not hidden, not encoded. just there, like whoever made it wanted the person holding it to know exactly what they had.

TOUCH. INFECT. TRANSMIT. SURVIVE.

in that order. like steps.

the hardware is built for proximity. it transmits. frequencies check out, cipher is real, and i've gotten as far as i can get on my own. there's a second variant out there and i think it's the other half of this. i think that's the whole point.

can't go further without it. that's the part i can't test without the other.

someone built a cure. they had to.

more when i have more.

A new badge is stumbling into DC34! More to come!

[ ZER0PATIENT — FIELD REPORT #001 ]

Writing this between movements. I'll be thorough when I can. Right now I'll be fast.

Something is moving toward Las Vegas.

I've been tracking it for weeks. It doesn't announce itself. It moves through proximity — person to person, crowd to crowd — and by the time you notice the pattern, it's already somewhere else. It's heading toward Las Vegas. Toward DEF CON 34. Toward the kind of floor it was always going to find eventually. It will arrive in August.

Objects have been recovered. From people near the front edge of whatever this is. Small. Electronic. I've documented two distinct variants. They started appearing in small numbers. That was weeks ago. There are more now. I don't know the exact count. I know it's higher than it was and I know it keeps going.

I don't fully understand what the two variants do when they're near each other. I have partial data. I'm not publishing partial data.

Patient zero has been identified.

I'm not publishing that either. Not yet.

I'll write again when I have more. Or when I don't have a choice.
