I’m based in Brisbane and this idea came from a problem I’ve run into myself.
Finding affordable accommodation close to the city can already be difficult. Then if you have a car, you need somewhere to park. And with an EV, you’ve got another problem, finding somewhere nearby to charge.
At the same time, there are driveways, apartment car parks, business car parks and EV chargers sitting unused for hours at a time. I kept thinking surely we could make better use of what we already have?
That’s what led me to build Chargeo.
The idea is pretty simple: people and local businesses , community centres can make their unused parking spaces or EV chargers available for others nearby to book.
So if you’re heading into an area where parking or charging is difficult, instead of driving around looking for a spot or relying only on public chargers, there could be a home or local business a couple of streets away with exactly what you need.
And the person or business providing the space gets to ear from something that would otherwise be sitting unused , will help out to offset their rent a bit in this day and age.
i’ve got the app up and running now, but it’s still very early. I want to build it around problems EV drivers actually have rather than what I think they have.
So I’d really like to hear from EV owners here:
Would you book a parking space or EV charger at someone’s home or a local business if it was in a convenient location?
And if not, what would be the biggest thing stopping you?
Especially interested in hearing from people who rent, live in apartments, street park, travel into the city regularly, or otherwise don’t have easy access to charging at home.
I’ve been lurking on this and other EV subreddit for a while now and I would love your feedback.
