Someone made a wonderful little app for fluid animations on an esp32-s3 matrix

I had a spare esp32-s3 matrix, and wanted to see if I could make a fluid fidget toy out of it. I had been struggling with it for a few hours today and found a wonderful app on github to do this:

https://github.com/Vateva/Esp32FluidSimulation8x8

This person's version uses at a momentary switch (I don't have one, so I decided to modify to make it a series of taps until I buy one).

Getting Handguard Cerekoted vs. A New Handguard

I have a SW Sport III that I'm gussying up, and I don't like the black handguard/receiver. I was quoted around $100 from a local shop cerekoting the handguard, but I was also considering just ordering one in a new color and spending a bit more. I've seen prices all over the place and don't have any perspective on the differences.

Deep Research Reports with Hermes Failing

I have a 5060 Ti 16Gb and a 3070 8GB (5800x and 32gb RAM). I've been trying to build a skill to create deep research reports on various topics. However, every attempt with qwen or gemma4 never complete. I'm not sure if I'm being to ambitious with the hardware or what.

Created a Claude Usage for a M5StickS3

I created a little app for tracking Claude usage on an M5StickS3. /u/MechanicalDomineer did this last month with an M5StickC Plus, but I didn't have that device so I made a version for me and it's so much handier than keeping a second tab open.

Range Report: S&W Sport III

This is my first AR--a S&W M&P Sport III. I've had it for a month, and spent that time adding things to it, but today was the first time I shot it. This is maybe my 2nd time shooting an AR and first time shooting 5.56:

  • Hot. It was like 60 degree, and I had this barrel smoking hot.
  • Gassy. It has quite a bit of gas in my face, which really surprised me. I can see how you can get used to it and get over it, but I thought this was a only a thing with suppressors, but learned I was wrong on that. My only other reference is my Extar Ep9, which is almost never gassy.
  • Scope. I used the Vortex Pro leveling kit to level the rifle and tighten the scope rings, but didn't have a chance to actually zero it today. I feel like I was hitting targets at least 50-75 yards out regardless.
  • Seeing Shots? I've only used irons and red dots and a scope when I was, uh, a kid, but I was having a tough time keeping the scope on target and in my sight picture after each round.
  • Build! I kind of wish I had built something only for the fact that I'm bored and don't know what else to do to it, but other than that this seems like a good solid rifle.

Here's what I added:

  • B5 Furniture in Wolf Grey
  • Blue Force Gear Sling
  • Arisaka Defense Mlok QD Mount - FDE
  • ODIN Works Extended Magazine Release Gen III
  • Vortex Sport Cantilever 30mm Rifle Scope Ring Mount - FDE
  • Vortex Viper PST Gen II 1-6x24
  • Radian Raptor AR15 Ambi Charging Handle
  • Radian Talon 45/90 2-Lever Safety Selector
  • Radian Extended Bolt Catch
  • ODIN Works Extended Magazine Release Gen III
  • Streamlight ProTac Railmount HL-X Pro
  • LaRue Tactical MBT-2S (Currently backordered until the end of time)

Initial Release/Beta - Plume: Surveillance Awareness

EDIT: This is now on M5 Launcher!

Hey everyone!

I've been working on Plume—a passive RF scanner that detects Flock Safety ALPR cameras and Raven (SoundThinking/ShotSpotter) acoustic surveillance devices using WiFi promiscuous mode and BLE scanning. It runs on the M5Cardputer ADV (ESP32-S3) with GPS logging, SD card capture, and a full tactical UI.

It's not perfect yet—it's a beta—but it's at the point where I'd love for people to start playing with it, breaking it, and telling me what sucks.

What it does:

  • Passive Detection. Passively detects Flock cameras and Raven devices via WiFi and BLE signature matching (MAC OUI, SSID patterns, manufacturer IDs, service UUIDs, wildcard probe analysis)
  • Multi Confidence Scoring. Multi-factor confidence scoring (75%+ triggers an alarm)
  • 5 Screens: radar scanner with 3 visualizations, signal tracker, detection history, GPS, and device stats.
  • Logging. Logs everything to SD with GPS coordinates—exports as CSV and Wireshark-compatible PCAP files. Export mode for downloading files locally.
  • Fully offline. No cloud. No network connection. Purely passive—never transmits.

Why I Built It
My goal was to make something that people would actually be excited to use—something that feels empowering and gives a sense of agency. Not just a command-line tool that dumps text. I wanted the experience of turning it on, driving around, and having like you have just as capable of a tool as they do. I did my best, and I hope other can help.

I developed a lot of this with frontier AI, and I'd like to stop using that for a lot of ethical reasons and instead invest in local AI, which means hardware. Any donations for that are helpful, but if you don't have a Cardputer Adv--another good option is buying one for a friend so we can detect more of these things (instead of donating to me).

This is also on launcher, but maybe taking time to populate (and now on Launcher)

Need Beta Testers for Flock Finder

I spent the past two months building a a flock detecting app, and I want to validate it and make sure it passes mustard for stability and detections. I'm looking for some beta testers with a Cardputer Adv who would be willing to test for a couple of weeks and provide feedback.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfz659YKAjOyWrIjDiOtE0WjXWej5nbaYPZ6tfx2nWoCId2Ng/viewform?usp=header

I'd love to get 10 people to test this to start, and I'll subsequently update this post (and send those people the bin file). I'll also be deleting these emails once we get done with this (and will update this post to tell you when I have my 10 so no one else fills it out).

How to put out bin file on M5 Stack store/thing?`

I have an app I wrote for detecting Flock cameras, and I'm trying to figure how to release it if anyone can point me in the right direction.
