I am hoping to get insight and advice. We noticed that our 2 year old hvac system wasn't getting the house cooled efficiently. We found that the issue was broken/torn ducts in the attic. Our attic is fairly short and small (14K sq. ft.) with vaulted ceilings. We were quoted $3.9K to get the ducts back to working order, meaning they would salvage what is possible, clean them. and ensure they are correctly mounted to the vents, there isn't extra duct length, etc. Is this relatively reasonable? I am in SoCal. We trust the person who is offering to do the work as they helped us before when we get our asbestos abatement; they did not install the hvac system of the duct work. Thanks in advance and I hope I can get some advice! $3.9k feels steep but we are willing to invest in getting the work done. Should I be negotiating down? Or is this a solid/fair price?
