Need help with E88 convertible top not letting trunk open

My 2011 BMW 135i convertible keeps giving an error that the convertible top partition is down and now it won’t let me open the trunk. The car keeps trying to lower the top even when I hold the close button. I can’t access the trunk to lower or raise the partition now. I don’t have the ski bag option in my car so I can’t access the emergency trunk latch from there. Anyone know how to solve this? I do have Bimmerlink and Bimmercode if that helps. Thank you

S65 1M Clone (In Process)

Posted in here awhile back with my 1M clone. That car unfortunately sold. I was contacted by a gentleman in Canada that made an offer worthy of letting it go and was someone that would appreciate the car.

I decided I wanted to build another one. Seems silly but the chance to do it again while learning from previous mistakes and the chance to change some things doesn’t come around too often. Big change is that this one is going to be a manual car and I’m going to keep this one more OEM+.

1 series is stripped, M3 donor is getting there, and now that the engine bay is paint it’s time to start swapping everything over.

If people are interested in seeing more progress posts I’ll be happy to post.

Weird plug

Did coils and plugs yesterday on a 70k mile N55 car. 1-5 looked great but holy hell 6 was not happy.

Genuinely kinda lost about what all the gunk would be from.

Car was running fine but it did have an intermittent rough idle and occasionally would shut off by itself. Always started up back fine and under load it was very smooth.

After I changed them to dinan coils it was a noticeable improvement for power.

Car does sit frequently but always has fuel stabilizer in it.

Thoughts

Bmw 125i - Recommendations

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy an 125i in the Netherlands, my preference goes out to the 5 doors, manual transmission with the face lift.

I can get my hands on a model from 06-2015 with the n20 motor, I know people prefer the B48 but can it really be that bad from this year? It has run around 135000km.

There aren't a lot of other variants available, because most of them are automatic transmission.

What would your recommendations be?

Mainly heading to the 125i because of the better motor performance and still quite affordable.

spun a rod bearing, 8k deep in mods, what do i do for best outcome

title says it all, trying to see what makes sense from here on.

my crank is beyond scored, cant just swap them out and keep it going. dont really want to lean towards a rebuild because of how much glitter will be through out the engine, would rather swap the engine and bolt ons, and get it over with. but at the same time want to bring it back making more than it did before.

the whole time i wanted to get a baffle in there but never had the shop to do it. no one welds aluminum around me. now im here

8 months in, still love this car

8 months of ownership so far, not missed a beat and still puts a smile on my face.

Not quite a full whopper M car (one day maybe 🤞🏻) but enough oomph to have a lot of fun and a bit sideways.

Looking forward to some tasteful mods and a bit of extra performance soon!

Talk Me Out of / Into Downpipes

Car is mainly a grocery getter. Original plan was to replace the oem resonator w a Vibrant for a subtle exhaust note change, but am debating downpipes instead and keeping the stock exhaust set up.

Been trying to read around before posting this, but Id really like to hear from those who didnt like switching out the catted stock downpipes. Cons, worthwhile power increase (given cons) etc.

also if i do go for new pipes, the best catted/non catted recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Let’s see your wide body builds

I’m struggling with front end grip and scrubbing so much time in corners with my current staggered 235/255 setup. I’ve got a decent amount of camber, st xta suspension, m3 control arms, rolled fenders, etc etc and I’m kinda itching to go to a wide body setup to fit a wider square setup. Cars only driven too and from track events so I’m torn between how nice I want it to look but I’m warming to the idea of a wide body club sport inspired build and getting lost across options like big duck, clinched, replica 1m. I don’t want the car to look like a clapped out drift car so curious to see if anyone has some nice examples to share.

Lost item behind glovebox: How can I retrieve it?

As the title states, an item (AirPods) have dropped behind the glovebox on my 2011 BMW 135i E82, and I’m wondering how I can get it back. I’ve had trouble finding a guide or tutorial on how to take off the glovebox compartment. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Help with new 09 135i

I just bought my first BMW- a 2009 135i. Obviously it has issues and I’m tryna tackle it all down now. Any help with anything is appreciated.
I need new side mirrors and am having a really hard time finding them. Part numbers are driver: 51167132749 passenger: 51167132746. Any idea where I could find these?

My car throwing a boost code every now and then. I’ve attached a picture (ignore the others they were shadow codes due to the battery). I ran a smoke machine through and didn’t see anything. There’s a TiAl BOV on. The car also seems to be making a galloping noise when it’s at 1.5-3k rpms. Very confused about this. Last night I cleared the codes and then went out for a drive to trigger the half limp mode due to the boost and it didn’t trigger. It did trigger earlier today though (haven’t had time to check the ISTA about code yet). The muffler is off as well and the ISTA+ said something about the exhaust flaps (which aren’t there since no muffler). Honestly I’m so lost so anything helps.

The A/C doesn’t work. Sometimes when I’m driving it blows kinda cold but no idea if that’s just because I’m moving or not. Bought the UV dye kit for this and will be doing that tomorrow. Any tips or anything?

iDrive screen is messed up. Ordered a new one and will be replacing soon. Let me know if there’s anything I should keep an eye out for.

Again, I know it’s a lot but I would appreciate any help yall could provide especially on the boost leak (maybe?) and AC.
