Finished it 😅

Plan is to put it on a stand with 3 swords of revealing light. Pretty unhappy with the gold trim but I'm out of time lol. Other mistakes a plenty but I'm proud of it still

Bits and Spares - The Rosan Dragoon

After the Templar build, I realized I had lots of leftover parts so I tried another kitbash - with the caveat that ai will not be reusing bits from the Templar. With that, I present the Dragoon.

Dlrowyvern. My first 30MF

This is one of the first models I clear coated... I wish I took the joints out of the wrist because the clear coat caused one to stick and break. I pinned it with copper wire. Really that wrist joint is terrible and holding too much weight with the wings. Still I like this model. I do wish it was more modular with color separated armor. I did enjoy painting it though.

What back armor piece do you recommend for my Assassin?

Want to give my Liber Assassin a shinobi feel with the scarf. But I’m not able to keep the back armor attached cause it gets in the way of the scarf.

Does any know if there’s a back armor piece I can kit bash from a different Liber or Rosan character that’ll work?

Necrosknight and Liber Assassin

My first two builds from this line, my brother in law and I came across these on a random visit to our LHS last month and went all in.

Rosan Necromancer

And it's done! It's a shame all of the detail highlights I put in this kit don't show that well, but it's the effect the dead flat clear had on my painted armor parts that impressed me. Tamiya weather powders and acrylic metallic markers seem to be my gold standard now. I'll drop my first two builds after this!

Finally settled on a paint scheme for the weapon

Gonna do a dark metallic on that long detail panel and a light pearl blue on the very center smaller detail panel and let the space paint scheme just be on the blade. Build is due in a couple days and I need to panel line and add my decals lol busy busy

Airbrushing 👏🏾

This kit was so much cheaper than I thought it would be
Shout out to Gundamplanet for that sale

It’s the turboX mini from Gaahleri.
It cost me about $100 for the kit in it’s entirety and so far I feel like it’s pretty worth it

Metallic paints

I don't think its much of a secret that I have a strong preference for metallic paints. I use them on all my 30MF customs. I'd like to share some tips for using the army painter line of metallic paints.

Firstly, I use brushes. Spray cans are nearly impossible to get where I live, and airbrushing is impractical with the space and roommates that I have. I use the army painter brand metallic paints from different lines, but they all behave loosely the same from a hand brushing perspective.

  1. Shake it like you hate it. Then shake it some more. Soak the bottle in warm water first if you haven't touched it in a while

  2. THIN YOUR PAINT. This should go without saying, but its vital when hand brushing acrylic paints. I use water, you may prefer something else

  3. stir your paint, even while you're using it. The metallic flakes will settle slowly, so longer paint sessions will see the sheen go down if you don't keep the particles suspended.

  4. keep layering. Two thin coats is the normal preference for a standard opaque model paints, but building proper metallic lustre typically takes 4 to 6 depending on the colour. This is why you thin the paints slightly more

It may seem counterintuitive to thin the paints and layer more, but I have had better results with thinner paint and more layers than I have with what I would consider regular dilution.

Strike the earth (1st paint custom update)

Welp everybody here he is. my 1st (and last) spray paint custom!! I want to take the guy who posted the specter knight for inspired me to make shovel knight i had alot of fun painting him but im ngl this will most likely be my only paint custom. i knew going in not to except 5 star work with both my shaky hands and it litterly being the 1st time I'm doing this but seeing the missed painted areas, how hard it was to put together cause i didt cover the build holes b4 spray painting and remembering it took $80+ dollars to make this it makes my stomach turn a bit 😅😅😅 not to worry tho I plan to buy and make more models and do more customs in the future....just ones that involve building and not painting 💀💀 i want to thank folks who gave me helpful tips and plan to post him one last time when the shovel sword is done (need to wait till next paycheck to get the glue )

See you all soon!!
