I tuned in earlier and Craig Charles was on from 1pm. Is he standing in for Chris Hawkins this week?

I've created a tool that will show you what's playing on 6 Music any time of day or night. It also gives you other interesting facts, like how often that band has been played on 6 Music in the last week. Where I can find it, I'm also displaying the most recent set list the band has played live. I'm also experimenting with a 'if you like this, try that' feature.

I'm slightly hesitant to share this because I built it for my own amusement, but friends have started to enjoy using it, so I thought I'd share it with you.

I realise this sub is just people complaining and I'm adding to that but that Little Grandad tune gets played 20 times a day and sounds like a Deacon Blue B side. Lamacq has been to see them live 13 times, apparently. I did watch a live set of theirs as I thought this can't be it, but apparently, yes, this is it.

Is it me or has the music choices gone bad for 6 music lately. I had to turn it off this morning and yesterday. Its awful. Grimmy mostly. But not solely him.

Does anyone else think his song is terrible? played constantly and its just shite

Always painful when you realise your favourite song has become background noise because you played it 400 times.

Do you feel these 2 tracks fit 6 Music?

I'm not sure myself. No problem with heavy music but these sound 'a bit like noise' to me.

Maybe they would be better suited to Radio 1. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

I built a mac menu bar app for BBC Radio 6 Music, with last.fm scrobbling.

Why? Yeah great question:

• no need to keep a browser tab open
• will stop/resume the stream when you use the play/pause button on your keyboard
• because of the way BBC radio works, other radio apps don't show Now Playing metadata for BBC stations

It's free, but it's not on the Apple app store - you have to get it from Github (there's a pre-built binary or you can compile from source).

Since this is just a personal project I've not signed the app, which means macos will quarantine it on first launch. You'll need to right-click → open → open on the first launch to allow it.

I thought BBC couldn't advertise brands, all the usual cavats of other smart speakers or even ask your smart speaker to..... have completely gone now.

Is this just another example of end-game capitalism?

I can’t actually pinpoint what annoys me about the both of them - but I have to switch them off.

Far too much early airtime given over to them.

Next week they do a cover, her sounding even more bored and disinterested than usual reading the weakly weather and shipping forecast, whilst the band are playing incidental background vibes and eventually everything just melts into a droning vacuum and they accidentally become a bit better and sound a bit like Sun O)))!

Any update on who will be taking Huey’s slot longer term. It’s unlistenable right now…

Anyway, I'm off to watch some crap TV I don't really want to, (half pissed and ready to "Friday") cos I've got no excuse when they start playing Dodgy. Another waste of an evening in. FU 6 Schedulers!!! *Shakes fist*

She smashes it out of the park every time. Always a pleasant surprise when I tune in and it's her voice instead of Nick's (as much as Nick's okay!!)

RadMac playing songs from pet Sounds makes me realise how much I hate this music.

A lot. Can't see why it's considered a classic.
