My first 7 string scratch build

This is the LIII Yandere 7 string (YND-107). It is equipped with a set of Seymour Duncan Nazgûl Sentient pickups and has a harp-inspired string-through design. I love this guitar sm.

Tips for a first time 7 string owner

Just placed an order for a new to me 7 string. Getting the schecter Banshee Mach 7 FRS.

I’m sure this has been asked a million times. But any tips for getting used to the wider fret board and much longer scale length (I have been playing a 24” scale a lot lately). And for the muscle memory for scales when im so used to less strings. or little things that helped the transition click.

And low string thickness recommendations for a 26.5” scale. I plan on running a few sets at B standard for the transition. But shortly going to A or drop G.

NGD Halo Merus 7 w/ EverTune

Production model from 2021 I think? Got this one for a steal. Halo gets a bad rep for their build lead times and service, but I didn’t have to deal with any of that so 🤷‍♂️

Guitar is killer and the specs are loaded. For the price, don’t think I could find this elsewhere:

27”
Wenge/Massacar neck thru
Fishmans w/ rechargeable pack
EverTune

Gotta say the rechargeable pack is a huge convenience and I’m sorely missing it on my other guitars with actives now. Wish it was a more standard feature.

My first 7 string, and it's beautiful

It's the Cort KX507MS Pale Moon.

I have been browsing for a 7 string for quite some time now. Wanted to get into to the Drop F/F#/G territory for the modern core stuff. I saw that many of the established low tuning players use bare knuckles rn, but since they rarely come in stock with guitars and standalone they are not particularly cheap, I started looking for fishmans, since they are a standard for these tunings.

I wanted not to pay more then around 1000$/1000€, wanted stock fishmans, wanted multiscale, and especially stainless steel frets, since I am a sucker for those rn. This is the only guitar on the market that fits all of that criteria (at least as far as I know).

I heard that QC issues might happen. And since I was determined that this is the guitar for me + I hate having to trouble myself with returnes, I purchesed it from Thomann and used their services to inspect it and set it up straight in F# before shipping. Services costed around 50€, and I got shipped a perfect guitar. Not entirely perfect if I'm honest, Thomann, during the inspection, noticed a couple of scratches on the headstock and on the body, and offered me the guitar for around 60€ less. The scratches are minimal, you really need to look for them to notice them. So basically I got the services for free.

As for the guitar, what can I say. First of all, I dare to say that I love the way it looks. It's like top 3 out of all the 7 strings I've checked (on all price ranges) in terms of aesthetics for me. It looks exactly like the type of music I wish to play with it. SS frets feel amazing, and they will not get destroyed over time. Fretwork as a whole is very very good, nothing to complain. Tuners do their job very well. Pickups are exactly what they need to be, crushing but clear. The different voicings allow for a wide array of tones.

The neck might be weird, like others have said on the internet, it not thick, but has wide shoulders. Might take some time to get used, and I got used to it pretty quick, it became natural for me. It doesn't impede me from kicking ass at all. The neck width is also a bit wider than other 7 strings (as far as I've read on specs of guitars), people say that it feels more like an 8 string neck. Idk what to say since this is my first 7 string that I've played, and ofc, never played an 8 string. Since I have nothing else to compare it to, can't complain.

Even though I am not a performing musician, if I was, I wouldn't be ashamed to take this on stage. It looks killer and sounds amazing. I am incredibly happy with this purchase, feels like a steal.

Thoughts on this design but as a baritone?

Hey everyone!

I'm the designer behind "Pearson Instruments". I'm thinking of creating a baritone variant of this new model to put into production, and was wanting to get feedback from people in this specific niche to see if this type of design is something you all would like to see as a baritone.

Let me know what scale you think would be best, and if you think this would be a valuable addition to the general baritone headless market. I have branched out to multi-scale, so want to make this new model as diverse as possible within the lineup.

Gig Bag for Jackson JS22-7 HT Rhoads.

I just got my first 7 string and I'm looking for an affordable gig bag for it but I'm not sure which gig bag it would fit in. Any recommendations?

I’m trying to decide if a 7 string is right for me, and if I should return my 6 string for one. Input appreciated.

Some background: I have had a 6 string acoustic guitar since I was a teenager, but never really clicked with it. It was a gift, but truth be told I never cared for acoustic much and always wanted to learn electric.

Well, I finally got serious about it. I signed up for lessons a few weeks ago and at the same time I bought a Jackson JS22 Dinky (6 string) which I understand is a very good “first” electric guitar. I got the IK Tonex Plug as my first headphone amp. I got Rocksmith set up. I’m having a blast. I’ve been practicing every single day.

But here’s the thing: I’m really into Sleep Token right now. And as I’ve started getting into tabs for their songs, I’ve realized most of them require 7 strings. I really love that low, chuggy yet clear tone in their songs and don’t know how viable it is to get a nice low tone like that on a 6 string. Perhaps with digital processing via computer?

Honestly, their music + some of Mick Gordon’s work is what inspired me to get into this in the first place…

So I’m perhaps a little dismayed / bewildered as to whether or not I can learn the songs and have them sound good without modding the crap out of my 6 string guitar as a beginner. Replacing pickups or even changing for heavy gauge strings feels intimidating for where I’m at.

I saw this video from Jamie Slays on YouTube where he highly recommended the 7 string Jackson JS22, which is basically the same price as the 6 string version that I got.  https://youtu.be/tJ8q5JUJVeo?si=5oTDHRrs2t00S5za

I am debating returning my 6 string while still within the return window and getting this JS22-7 string instead. Perhaps later on when I’m more skilled I’d mod the pickups on it, but out of the box it seems like an amazing choice at $269. And to be honest, that’s kind of my budget right now.

Does anyone have any advice? Do you think I should just keep the 6 string/might regret retuning it? Part of me wants to go all in on the 7 string. I’m already learning guitar, might as well learn the extra string now than have to get used to it later…unless you think it’s going to be a pain to play traditional 6 string music on this thing? Can a 7 string serve as your one and only guitar? For what it’s worth, I’m tall and have big hands, if that makes a difference one way or the other. And I’m not intimidated by 7 strings unless it’s vastly more difficult to play on. Do I eat the cost and keep both?

Mixing a guitar cover over the original track

I’m trying to mix a metalcore guitar cover over the mastered original track.

The original already has dense rhythm guitars, so if I match the tone too closely, my guitar disappears into the mix. I could make my tone more different so it cuts through, but then it starts to lose the original vibe, which feels like a problem for a guitar cover.

Without stems or a guitarless version, is it better to reshape my guitar tone slightly, such as adding upper mids or presence, reducing low mids, using a brighter cab or IR, or lowering the gain for more pick attack?

Or should I EQ the original track instead to make space for my guitar?

Any practical advice would be appreciated.

HB multiscale 7 owners, is it worth buying?

The guitar I'm specifically looking at is the HB MultiScale-7 BBB DLX. I've seen reviews on Youtube and from what I've heard, it's pretty good considering the price. However, not many have touched on how well it performs over a long period of time. I was also wondering if was light, has neck dive, and if its a good mod platform. I've also heard some people say that the neck was similar to an Ibanez Wizard III neck, is that true? any help is greatly appreciated.

7strings multiscale body pass-through

Hi, I search a 7strings guitar with strings body pass-through like the schecter demon7

have you ever seen one ?

EDIT : i didn't know that lot of passtrough are hidden by a bridge so i search this design, without stoptail

A technical question: Why don’t the 6- or 7-string versions of these nearly identical models come without a tailpiece, while the multiscale models do?

I didnt need a 7 string....

So I decided to get this badass schecter. I love deathcore music and I will be honest it's taking me a bit to figure out hand placement but I'm ready to start learning riffs.

Sure, the guy wearing the Death shirt at Guitar Center side eyed me and went on about how you need to learn music theory to really appreciate the 7 string but hey I'm gonna learn to swim by jumping off into the deep end.

Well off to go find some easy 7 string songs to learn. Happy shredding!!!! Or slamming. Or whatever!!!
