Just got to Ireland and found this beauty, colouring is little disappointing though 😅

It probably seems silly to most, but the dog in Ireland being modeled after an Irish Red Setter is a little disappointing to me. I doubt the team did any research for it because it's such a small thing that ultimately doesnt matter, but the original Irish Setters were actually red *and white*. Irish Red Setters were selectively bred by foreigners (Americans, iirc) to be all red (this is also why it's not uncommon for them to have aome white and why it doesnt go against breed standard). The original breed nearly disappeared because of it. It took a lot of hard work to bring them back from the edge, and it took even longer to get them recognised by kennel clubs despite being among the oldest breeds.

The breed still exists (Irish Red & White Setters), I have one and she is incredibly beautiful. I had a small hope that I would see my dog in a game, but it seems not.

Either way, it's nice to see a Setter. They're so few and far between now, and it's uncommon to see them in media.

Edit: tbf, neither Setter breed existed when vikings were in Ireland. The IRWS may have roots to the dogs from the time, but breeds weren't really a thing, I had just been hoping to see my dog in media

Anyone know why the terrain keeps flickering like this?

Here's a video of my issue. I've noticed this happening a lot in the snowier areas, and I've even noticed some snow or water caustics be limited to a square like grid sometimes. It's very weird, what could be causing this?
Specs:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with Radeon Graphics (3.30 GHz)
RAM: 32 GB

Graphics card: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (4 GB)

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (4 GB)

Running on 64 bit windows 11

EDIT: A lot of people said I should delete the cache folder contents, or set the framerate to 90 FPS to fix this bug. I'm pretty sure it happens, because the game caches low resolution verions of the terrain, so when you go far away, it doesn't have to load in the full detail version, so it's less demanding, but for some reason on this specific graphics card it doesn't seem to want to deload the low detail version when you get back to these lands, so the high and the low detail versions start Z fighting because they try to exist at the same time at the same spot. It is very weird.

Pre-First Time Playing Valhalla

I’m a life-long fan of the franchise and I’m not too critical when it comes to the games. There isn’t a game so far I’ve strongly disliked but I do have my favorites. I’m a completionist and I’ve played AC1- Odyssey and Odyssey got long for me only towards the end with the bonus missions after the main story. One negative thing I’ve heard about Valhalla is the length. A couple of questions that I’m just looking for honest feedback (also if any of what I’ve heard is incorrect, please lmk):

  1. I’ve heard the side content being necessary for main story progress makes it long. Is the side content meaningful or is it just filler like dumb fetch quests?

  2. I played Odyssey pretty consistently, aka no gaps where I put the game down for more than a few days. Does Valhalla need to be played straight through or can I put it down and come back to it without going backwards?

  3. Not normally into DLC but since I’m here, is the Valhalla DLC worth it? I just have the base game atm

There should be an option to kill Aswig the Gleewoman in Eastseaxe

She is very annoying. And that you have to pay her to get her to sod off does not help. Eivor ist a viking no a pacifist.

Can you customize your long boat during the Druid DLC?

I’ve gotten a massive number of longboat customizations but can’t seem to find a spot in Ireland to do it.

It's wild that this sword isn't technically in the base game

You can unlock it for points in the Ubisoft Club app. Seems like a perfect sword for an Assassin-adjacent Viking. Maybe as an endgame weapon

Finding Fritjof

It's been years since I last played this game..figured I'd redownload it and maybe get through Svartalfheim...but this bitch still doesn't move. I got nothing else to do but this mission right here😂 anyone got any hope and advice to throw my way? Am I stupid or is the game eternally broken here...I see from YouTube searches I'm not alone with this problem.

I've left the realm and done all side missions, I've come back to try it again and again and again...nothing. there's nothing around her I need to interact with ,i kill any enemy that spawns in. Idk what to do!

Defeating Osgar on Drengr difficulty

The one from the order attacked quickly, but at least it wasn't too complicated.

The other enemy, thank goodness he wasn't shooting at me when I was fighting him.

Today's Weekly Free Item...

...was Small Materials Pack. (For those who don't know (I didn't), that's 400 silver.)

Needless to say, I was disappointed. I still have dozens of premium items left to get.

This also happened after I kept getting repeated failures to connect to the Ubi online service, which makes me wonder if they hit the reset button on something.

We'll see if I get the same thing next week. If so, I might be finally done with this game after I round up the remaining achievements in Niflheim.

Vengeance of Thor (advanced)

Enemies that resist stagger from your weapons (mostly large humanoids and legendary animals) will also shrug off Vengeance of Thor. However, dodging still works during the ability's animation. Even though you remain committed to the move, you still receive i-frames equivalent to those of a normal dodge, without being displaced.

This not only prevents a DPS loss, by allowing you to output the full ability damage while evading, but also keeps you close to your target for subsequent combos. Just keep in mind that Vengeance of Thor doesn't inherently grant i-frames, so you still have to actively time your dodges. It might feel counter-intuitive at first, when your input is no longer reflected on-screen.

(Btw, there's no "Tips and Tricks" post flair)

Minor wealth behind a barred door???

Had a quick question about this minor wealth spot. It's still in Grantebridgescire (if only just) and is behind a barred door. I've scoured the surrounding area and for the life of me cannot figure out how to get the door open. I tried shooting arrows, using the flame powder trap - nothing. So if anyone can point me in the right direction to figuring it out myself or let me know if (SOMEHOW) this spot is connected to a quest I would appreciate it.
