Painted Up My First Nurgle Unit

As a busy Dad and Husband I don’t often get time to paint, but I’ve had the house to myself for the weekend and wanted to take my time and try some new things out. These might be my favorite miniatures I’ve painted to date and I’m all in on MoN

I see some areas I can definitely improve on, and those fleshy figures are a first for me coming from more armored Stormcast but it was a blast!!!

Repainted the spearhead (Mortisan Elite)!

I tried to strip one with isopropyl but it was such a headache and the previous layer had varnish and oil so I painted them over again! Not too bad, does not seems that it clogged any major details (mostly airbrush layer + speedpaint 2.0).

I tried to follow the Ivory Host colour scheme which I found quite pleasing. My original paintjob was here and somehow I was not satisfied with it  ̄\_(ツ)_/ ̄

morgaunt abhorrent archregent joins the court

C&C welcome.

quite happy with the result (looks better in person). was not sure if i wanted to power through the morgaunt scheme, since i followed Warhipsters tutorial (which is great)...but pallid wych flesh...god awful to layer with it. love the model, still need to do the base (skulls, bloooood,...). if anyone has suggestions for the base, happy to hear it.

skavens won't be happy with the collateral damage though ;)

Losing HARD with vigilant brotherhood for my first games

I am playing my first few games of spearhead now, and while I do enjoy them and find the game fun, I find that I just can not for the life of me score cards with the vigilant brotherhood, I feel like this game rewards board presence a lot and with 2 characters and 2 units I feel like I can not score most cards.

I find myself discarding cards every time I can only to draw more cards that I can't score.

Is this inherently an issue with low model count spearheads? Or am I just missing something, I feel like I am stuck in combat, not doing much and my opponent can reinforce, move or teleport all over while I can maybe grab one with my prosecutors, but they also tend to die when someone looks at them funny.

What should I be focusing on?

Sentinels of Emberguard done!

I recently painted the Sentinels of Emberguard spearhead in search for a color scheme for my CoS army and I think I found it!

Painted on a tabletop quality with special focus on streamlined process and speed.

Hope you like them!

Spearhead Doubles game from today

Have played a bunch of Spearhead games now but today was my first time playing the Doubles format. Really enjoyable and close game with Skaven and the Undead just managing to take the win on VP

I know it's not super fitting for the city of ash theme but I like how it turned out. C&C welcome.

Bitterbark Copse on City of Ash

I'm in a spearhead league playing the sylvaneth bitterbark copse and one of the upcoming games will be on the city of ash board.

I played a practice game today and lost 22 to 16, the lack of terrain is crippling for this spearhead. The teleport ability it relies on is so much harder to use when there's only two pieces of terrain on the board.

To anyone that has played this spearhead on this board, what tips do you have for winning games with this disadvantage?

Switching units ?

I have tried Spearhead and it's a lot of fun, but while I was going through the boxes, I was wondering if I was the only one who thinks it would be possible to switch one unit ?

I'm not asking for full rule changes, because we don't want points to be a factor, that'll ruin the point of Spearhead : you get a box, you got an army already made and prepared with some options on abilities both active and passive. But I think it would have been great if in White Dwarf, you could have an addendum like "hey, how about you switch your hero for this one instead ? Here are the new abilities you can pick from if you take the Sorcerer instead of the Lord".

I only had one game of it under my belt, so I can be completely be blind to the balance, but I'm not in the mood of making a full army. Spearhead is the perfect size for me, I just want sometimes to buy a single model from that faction and have a different side of that army available.

Really satisfying delivery this one - we’ll be sharing the seraphon building with one of my daughter’s friends. The Ionus is all mine! Mine, I tell you! Mine!

UPDATE: The Ionus is now apparently my daughter's. 😢

Spearhead Team Campaign

Just a quick one.

I've cooked up a super-quick campaign to play with my buddy over the next few months that I would like to share.

We each have lots of spearheads, and we wanted another way to use multiple of them outside of a double (or triple) battle, so we decided on a "Pokémon style battle" where loosing armies are eliminated and surviving armies can play on with certain hindering restrictions like having "reinforcements" and "once-per-battle" abilities only once-per-campaign.

We also have really been loving city of ash's relic system, so I've implemented it into F&J / S&B with different starting relic combinations, as well as a new horizontal deployment zone I stole from the city of ash campaign. (in the case of deployment 3 and battle tactics scoring, Long = short and short = long in terms of battlefield edge.)

CC welcome.

Confused about terrain

Hey all, played Spearhead a few times now and I still get confused about the terrain. Looking it up online isn't too helpful as people seem to be very divided on how it works. Things like; can models that poke above the terrain shoot / be shot at? Can a ranged unit shoot through the large terrain feature if he's within 3" of the wall so he can ignore terrain in his engagement range? When do I get cover from ranged attacks?

Any insight is appreciated!

Edit: we are playing with Fire&Jade. Are the rules different for Bone&Sand?

How are Kharadron Overlords Skyhammer Task Force considered Strong?

I've seen a lot of Spearhead Tier Lists and I understand they are all personal experience and opinion but i've seen a lot of people rate the Skyhammer Task Force quite high, a few even have them as Top Tier!

Within my gaming group none of us can understand this as through all our games we've never thought they were even strong nevermind potentially top tier. They aren't the worst but we think they are solid middle of the pack.

So what are we potentially missing here?
How are we maybe playing them wrong to not see their strength?
How do people use the Arkanaut Company and Frigate movement to get value from them?
Any advice so that we can get the most from this spearhead?

Confused About Blaze of Glory (Vigilant Brotherhood)

Hi, I’m pretty new to the game and just found out about the ‘Once Per…’ abilities potentially being usable by more than one unit, but I’m seeing confusing answers about different ones. Could someone please confirm which of these is the Vigilant Brotherhood’s Blaze of Glory ability works:

1: It says once per battle but also to pick a unit so it can be used by every relevant unit - including the replacement ones

2: It says to pick a unit but not pick a unit to use the ability so it is the player using the ability and so it is literally once per battle across the whole army

And is this different for their other ability Strike Where Needed which also says once per battle but is specifically used by the retreating unit?

Thank you!
