New Build Plz Test

I just wanted to show a new build I came up with and wanted to see if others could get the same aamount of success as I did. The build is Shojin - Endless - DD - LDR - Sundered/maw/GA/anything u want.

My thought process was that since q got buffed, shojin would be a lot stronger and once I tried it out, it was a lot stronger than I remembered. I know that a big weakness of shojin is that you need to hit your qs and it is hard against high mobility champs. However, in some of the clips and in most fights where I didnt hit some qs I prob should have, I still did good damage. Shojin + Deathdance makes you basically unkillable till your first kill and afterwards you snowball the fuck out with EH. LDR is really good from what I found. I deals with bruisers and tanks really well due to armor pen and passive. The last item I found I liked was SS which is kinda weird but I think I liked it cuz if im not hitting qs i found myself mostly up close and SS helped with that a lot.

DPS also isnt too bad and at full build you do around 780 and 1000 on q2 and q3 respectively, but youre also a lot tankier so I'd take the tradeoff.

Edit: I also used electrocute and sudden impact for runes which also helped with more dps and burst you lacked. It also makes aatrox an insane lane bully with those runes but thats for later. If you really want to go conqueror bc lets say there’s 4 melees I would still go sudden impact secondary runes

Here are some clips, and make sure to pay attention to the first one bc I really did heal that much with antiheal applied to me.

who’s that one champ that cooks you

as the title says, im curious who that one champ is that if they’re good at the game, you’re getting destroyed. and im not just talking counters because i would just say irelia, but everyone has that one champ. mine is probably darius, a good darius genuinely has his way with me. i also had my worst game in league history against the best tryndamere i’ve ever seen

"Reaching Toward a Star" (Art by: Vance8062)

A comic about Aatrox that I made.

(The art is a bit ass but I liked the concept enough to finish it.)

Aatrox scales well and is good late game

looking at the stats (lolalytics) you can see his win rate noticeably increases at 40+ min in high elo. Obviously he isn’t a hyperscaler but he is in fact good late game, he is just hard to pilot and we know he is a hard champion

Help me fix my Aatrox gameplay

I have around 500k mastery points on Aatrox and managed to climb up to Plat 1, but I feel like there are still some missing pieces in my knowledge. I would really appreciate some help with these questions:

  • Lethality vs. Bruiser: Which build path is currently better on Aatrox? In what specific team comps or matchups should I opt for one over the other?
  • Hard Matchups & Cull: What is the best game plan in hard matchups where I know I have zero solo-kill pressure? I usually buy Cull in these passive lanes to scale—is this a correct approach, or am I sacrificing too much early-game power?
  • Passive Lanes: In which matchups am I not forced to look for kills? Against which champions is it perfectly fine to just sit back, match their farm, and outscale them in teamfights?
  • Macro (When ahead): How do I hard-carry the map when I completely destroy my laner but my bot or mid lane is losing heavily? What is the best macro play for Aatrox to impact the map in this scenario?
  • Adapting to other fed members: If I am ahead in lane but there is another enemy member who is equally or more fed, how should I adapt my build? Should I still go damage or start building hybrid/defensive items earlier to survive them?
  • Shutting down gold: How should I itemize when I am the only fed person in the game and nobody on the enemy team is big? Should I double down on full damage, or transition into a bruiser/tankier build earlier to protect my shutdown gold?
  • Post-First Turret: After taking the first turret in top lane, should I stay in the side lane and draw pressure, or should I start grouping and moving around the map with my team?
  • Pivoting into Tank items: As a general rule, when should I stop buying damage items and start pivoting into pure tank/defensive items?
  • Teamfights (Target Selection): During teamfights, should I dive straight for the enemy ADC/backline, or is it better to just peel and hit whatever frontline is directly in front of me?
  • Flash Usage: How should I look to use my Flash on Aatrox? Should I play aggressively and use it to force high-reward plays/combos, or should I hold it defensively to protect my own shutdown?
  • 5v5 Role: What is my primary role in a 5v5? Should I look to be the primary engage for my team, or should I wait for the enemy to dive in first and then counter-engage?

State of Aatrox Question

I’ve been playing league for quite a while, off and on since season 3, and recently I’ve been trying to climb playing top because I love the melee bruiser play style. I’ve just started investing time into learning Aatrox and he feels amazing. He definitely has some limitations, I can’t carry every game, but in general when I play him I feel really strong and in control of the game. I just love the drain tank play style. He feels so deceptive in a lot of team fights because of the healing.

What I’m curious about is why people in this sub state that he’s a bit weaker? I went to a few streams (Looca and Quant) and both said Aatrox is not great right now. I can see things being different at the highest elos so I’m not exactly surprised that their response would be different than my experience but I’m curious to hear what this sub thinks of the state of current Aatrox. If you think he’s weaker, in what situations does he struggle? I think into mostly ranged comps he can definitely struggle as it’s harder to heal but outside of that I don’t really see too many weaknesses.

Rank disclosure: emerald 3

Do you always build hubris 1st on jg?

I’ve been building hubris into sundered into DD on most games of jg aatrox, but recently I’ve been feeling a little too squishy in my games. I checked naayil’s match history, and he’s been running sundered into mortal reminder most games, rushing serpent’s when needed. So, in a game where serpent’s isn’t needed, would you recommend hubris or sundered 1st? I get that hubris is more of a snowballing item, so what do you look for in terms of snowball potential when you decide to buy hubris?
