New Game Plus Please Deep Field!

Hello fellow scientists!!

I just want to start off by saying I absolutely love this game. And as I approach 2,000 hours played, I find myself having beat the game every which way I can think of. From tweeking server settings to the extreme, to using every mod imaginable, to completing iron mode with monster HP at 300%.

Which leads me to this post. I want to continue to play and love this game. I want to continue supporting the devs, and not let this become another game in my steam library that I never go back to. And I think that the best way to create an even greater level of replayability, is to add **New Game Plus**!

In one of the data logs they mention that Dr. Stern had created a simulated version of the entire facility. Maybe after we beat the game, we could find the machine running that simulation. And depending on what level of new game plus you're on, tweek the settings for the next run.

A big complaint I read about on this subreddit is that a good majority of the best upgrades come so late in the game that you cannot properly enjoy them. What better way, than to bring some of that tech with you to the new playthrough?

A lot of this game is collecting materials, knick-knacks, furniture, and decorating a base with love. But then you reach the end and never touch any of that stuff again. NG+ could remedy this by allowing persistent changes to the facility as one of the settings.

All in all, this game has all the right ingredients for making a new playthrough just as enjoyable as the first. And there are several ways that this could be tackled. I would love to hear suggestions from the community!

Anyways, back to science-ing!!

homeworlds disabled no idea why

Started a new playthrough.

For some reason when I unlocked the portal room, none of the portals were active. The Toori one had the tree and leaves falling but no active portal. The "winter wonderland" had snow but again no active portal to enter.

I only ever play single player. For troubleshooting I tried "hosting" my save as multiplayer with me as admin but no change.

In sandbox settings homeworlds is enabled with a checkmark, same as my first playthrough.

Legit steam copy, I've also verified steam files integrity a few times.

Any ideas? Just my luck- first playthrough I didn't use them except for the wishing shelf when I was already at fragments. This time was wanting to use the winter cabin as my base but I'm just about to give up and instead try top floor of furniture store.

My wishlist for Abiotic Factor

Hello all my fellow freaks of science I have decided that as a professional Abiotic Factor enjoyer I know exactly what would benefit the community and what everyone has been wanting from day one.

First request is the ability to milk the Leyak and the Krasue, It may be considered inhumane but we are scientists and sometimes I need that essence without waiting.

Second request is recreational/medical smokeables, have you ever sat down somewhere with a great view and thought "I'd really like to smoke something" but despite us traveling through dimensions, different sectors and even meeting French people without finding one cigarette or a doobie from the obvious pothead in reactors, when can we get some REAL space lettuce?

Third request is give us more home defenses already, I have 6 lazer turrets and 4 Tesla coils outside but I still feel unsafe, maybe a security bot that comes out during attacks or more Home Alone style booby traps for early game.

Fourth request is adding a piss feature, you can eat, you can poop, you can drink...you still poop?

doesn't make sense to me but what does make sense is weaponzing your bodily urge by toggling the pee button to stun and emotionally scar any enemies and drinking too much soda gives them acid damage.

Fith request is give us Home companions that help out when we're away, we see many fellow employees usually cowering and hiding away to avoid the inevitable sweet release of death when you have a luxury base with more than enough room, it could work similar to pets except you could assign them to a workbench so they'll stay around that and maybe certain coworkers have different functions like collect staplers or cook uncooked foods maybe even build items like unpaid labor or what we call interns.

Sixth and final request is a big one for me personally, add day and night cycles to Dunkeltaler, Rise, Voussoir and Albatross they can stay daylight or night during the first time you enter but if you wanna base there you better be used to not knowing the time, the home worlds have a complete day and night cycle besides the cabin so we know it's possible for them to do so, I would atleast want Dunkeltaler to have a day and night cycle since my base is there.

And thats all, this game is amazing and I appreciate anyone who finished my inane rambling

Symphonist locations

Within flathill what are the possible locations for symphonists and is it better to farm them during a fog event?

The Lens grind is grinding ME

Everything recently that I need to make requires a projection matrix. Which means I need to go to the blacksmith to trade in reinforced cable, which means I need to make more reinforced cable. Is there really no other way to get lenses or farm them? I'm running out of base materials just to make cables which I didn't think was possible, just to get lenses just to make projection matrixes. Is there really no good way to get lenses in bulk or am I just missing it?

Advice for fighting Exor Chas?

I reached the village and it's gotten to the point where I legit might have to bump the enemy health down to basically nil, because the second more than one sees me, I'm dead. Hell if only one sees me there's a good chance I'm burning through bullets and item durability on any melee weapon I have. They're sponges that hit hella hard and then have the ability to literally teleport to you for an instant hit, making them honestly feel broken and in need of a rework.

First time in Dunkeltaler Forest, just completed the story but a little disappointed.

Title pretty much....

I recently started a new game, my first one since completing my 1.0 run, so stuff like the North Pole and Dunkeltaler are new to me.

North Pole was very short but the stocking makes it worth while. I was kind of disappointed at Dunkeltaler though. The location itself is great, some of the furniture is nifty, and as a huge fan of Joel and Vinny it was great hearing Joel's voice in the game too, but as a whole, especially after the 'ending', it feels underutilized.

Anyone else feel the same? Is there anything else I'm missing after we say goodbye to Joel?

Edit: I'm not saying I'm unhappy with what was included. The more AB the better, it's just with my limited knowledge of VotV (I only know about the game from watching Joel play it) I thought there would be a bit more to it.

Is chemistry actually really strong?

I never did anything with it other than making pheromone flasks and the tincture for getting a Tareccary, but i’m dabbling in it now that I beat the game and a lot of the tinctures and coatings and flasks seem really really good. It almost makes me want to replay the game again to take full advantage of how awesome this system is

Oh so NOW you want to move! Creep!

For about seven sessions with my partner... the mannequin refused to move even once after slightly adjusting his pose. I picked him up and re-placed him, gave him a buddy to help motivate him... no movement.

And now we log on, and he TELEPORTED INTO THE TOILET WHILE SHE WAS THERE. and then proceeded to change his pose every single time we went to the toilet.

I feel inclined to call this overcompensation.

Can't Figure Out Cause of Death? Widowed?

My husband and I are somewhere in the early to mid game. He has died twice while just cooking and organizing things in our base. Our base is in the very starting zone. He has never seen anything that could be damaging him.

He'll be minding his own business cooking or whatnot. Suddenly his character starts gasping and moaning like he's sick or injured. He then quickly dies with a bleeding wound appearing. I'm not able to revive him and he has to respawn in the bed nearby.

Neither of us has been able to see any kind of danger. He's not carrying anything radioactive. I've rushed over to him seconds later and there's no enemy or anything near him - we're in our secure base.

Once he noticed a message that popped up "You have been widowed" but I haven't seen anything like that Leyak creature.

Is there a sneaky thing that's killing him that we just aren't seeing? It's kind of sucking the fun out. Is it that Leyak that just kills him and instantly vanishes? How do we stop this or protect him?

Thanks!!

EDIT: The more I read the more it sounds like this Leyak that we just haven't spotted yet. How do we block, kill or disable this completely, it sucks? Thanks.

Apologies if this has already been answered or asked a ton, but do we know if they plan on adding mod support to ABF?

Title pretty much says it. I think this game's community would create some incredible things with proper mod/steam workshop support. Love this game and the awesome devs and community behind it. This game is already so peak, mod support would only give this game the sort of staying power that Skyrim has for me. Like I could easily see myself still playing this game very commonly in 10+ years with mods.

Trinket detector Idea!

There's SOOOO many great little bobble heads and trinkets and badges in the game now, I think it'd be super great to have a sort of metal detector for them! Thank goodness we have Good Shark, but I think it'd be a little more fun in game to be able to hunt them down.
