[Spoilers for Absolute Green Lantern #19] What exactly is The Martian Mind****er, and why I think he is connected to The Manhunters
Absolute Martian Manhunter and Absolute Green Lantern are getting more and more connected with each issue of the latter. Now, in the main universe, Martian Manhunter and The Manhunters made by the Guardians have little to no connection. However, the lore of both of these Absolute titles are extremely interconnected, and with the Manhunters now revealed to be an extremely big threat, I do believe there's a connection.
First, the Yellow Aliens. The way they speak, the terms they use, it's all extremely similar to the Green Martian. Now, a very interesting explanation from them: Green is an outside color. The ring painted in the next page also has no Green.
However, that is not the case for the ring as shown to us in issue 17
Both Green and Red, who went completely unmentioned by the Yellow Aliens, are now here, in Oa. Interestingly, what prompted the Alien to talk about Green is the mention of the word Martian. Now, the page where the Martian explains his origin to John is very interesting for this discussion
Both the White and Green Lights have a seemingly different origin from the other ones. While the others originate from the original beam of Light entering the the prism and dividing itself, both the Green and White Lights originate from a total reflection of the Original Light who then divided into two. My interpretation is that the prism is Mu, and the original light is Oa. Now, the White Light is I feel like is essentially the same as the monochrome color, but the White Martian seems to be different from the Man with stars for eyes. This will be relevant later on. Also, the White Beam is still an outsider, but not as an entirely different light, but as a part of one.
Well, notice he never finished explaining his origin. Also, as far as I can remember from Absolute GL, there hasn't been an encounter -or mention of- with the governing entity of the Green Light, like there has been with the Yellow Aliens, Blue Face of Steel, The Magenta entity or The Man with star for eyes. And as I've said before for the White Martian, that entity isn't the Green Martian, as the encounters with these entities are framed differently and they behave differently. So, what is the Green Martian?
You must be asking yourself: how does this relates the Green Martian to the Manhunters? Well, just like the Green Martian, the Manhunters aren't the Entities or even wielders of the Blue/Cyan light, but they represent it. I think the key difference is that, the Manhunters are mindless and can't really act on our world directly even tho they have physical bodies. The Green Martian has a mind of his own, but I believe this is a recent development, just like the inclusion of the Green Light in the ring.
Think about it, the Green Martian and the Green Lantern appeared pretty much at the same time, specially when one considers a cosmic time scale. Now, I can't explain how, but both the Green and White light beams gained conciousness recently and both serve as representatives of their respective light levels. But there seems to be some tradeoff with the conciouness + more direct interference in reality that requires a host of sorts to reach their full potential. So essentially, both the Green and White Martians are Manhunters for their respectives levels of light. Outsider Manhunters, or in other words, Martian Manhunters. Outsiders to the outsiders.
The one Yellow Alien refused the word Martian because it represents someone who's even more of an outsider than a regular alien. There's aliens on Earth, such as Brainiac and Superman. Different alien species throught the universe and consider each other aliens maintain contact with one another. Martians specifically? No such thing, they don't exist in this universe. As for Despair, he was made by the White Martian and while he seems to represent the Blue Light somewhat, he doesn't really have the same level of autonomy and power as the other two, and he is never refered as a Martian because he represents an insider.
I think that's pretty much it. The Green Martian does seem to represent the notion of Correct Action in my opinion. If you've read it all, thank you and please share your thoughts, as there's probably more to add or even aspects to correct about this theory.
