Is it possible to get red gear besides paying 1600 amp-batteries for red-gear-chests? What do I have to do exactly?

i’m a f2p new player. currently i have all the colour code for pilots except cyclone which i can only rely on amelia. i heard that wukong is kinda OP, so im wondering if i should get him since i have enough diamond to draw now or should i wait for the next event with cyclone pilots again?
