30 WEEKS to complete a 0.5 course!

I know, I know...the step change is ridiculous! So I went ahead and figured I should fill the 1 class slot open for my daughter bc we are trying to "make-up" a year missed. Gov't and Civics.... a 0.5 credit course? That should be a quicker class to knock out, right? 177 steps. The amount allowed a week? 6 steps!!!!! It's going to take 29.5 WEEKS for a 1/2 credit course! THAT IS BEYOND RIDICULOUS! 🤬😡🤬 I am now actively going to see if we can find a different program that actually allows autonomy for our kids!

Acellus still havent fixed the step count decrease

today i was hoping due to people saying that acellus was shortening electives and most main subjects that my precious english credits would be spared. I was planning on graduating nov 2nd with 3 credits left. The fact that both are english flippin pisses me off now each subject is taking 16-20 weeks i dont have that time frick acellus

New Step Limit

I can’t stand this new step limit! I have been super stressed because I need to finish school and now I have to take a super long time to do it. Does anyone have any tips on how to finish them faster or even on how to not stress about school so much?

Any online schools where I can graduate in less than a year?

Please don't say Penn Foster because I want to take AP/Honors classes and I don't think they have those. This update has made me extremely angry because I was planning to apply for colleges soon and graduate before June 2027. I only have 8.5 credits right now and I started high school through Acellus back in January. I'll pay however much I need to and work as much as possible, just as long as it's a simple private (I don't want to do STAAR testing) online school that'll get me a diploma before next summer. The acceleration was the main reason I did Acellus. Being able to go at my own pace and know I’m getting lots of work done every week is what motivated me. Now, I feel anger everytime I open the Acellus app because the limit is so short that I don’t see any progress. I'm neurodivergent, chronically ill, and unexpected change is one of my least favorite things, so this happening out of nowhere when I'm about to graduate is awful! If I graduated late, it would severely affect me mentally and I don't want that to happen. If Acellus doesn't fix this, I will drop out of school and probably end up really badly off because I feel like I have no options left. I don't care what anyone says, I highly doubt this is an accreditation issue; I think it's a money grab so we’ll be paying for Acellus longer.

Help me 💔

Does anyone know if i switch to penn foster will i be able to graduate by the last week of august? I have like 18 credits with acellus and i think the transfer limit for penn is 15 so i would need 6 credits to graduate. Im already committed to a college and Acellus literally screwed me. Any advice? 🙏🏻

THIS NEW STEPS MESSED UP MY GRADUATION PLAN

why is it only 20 STEPS???????????????? I have to complete three CORE classes I haven’t finished yet and was trying to do it over the summer. They should atleast let us complete extra work during the summer before enforcing these new step limits

This really isn’t fair 💔
What happened to “accelerated learning” if you’re really trying to refrain us from doing any work

Can they just let us do work over the summer with our 40 step limit?

Petition to get the 40 step limit back!!

Hey guys i made a petition to get the 40 step limit back but for some reason reddit wouldn’t let me post it here so the link is in the COMMENTS!! You don’t need to donate or anything just sign!

I’m not sure if this will work but it’s worth trying since this is affecting many student’s education and lives

And please please please post or share this with anyone that you can! Acellus has millions of users all over the world so we definitely need at least a few thousand signatures. Adding a comment with the signature explaining how it affects you might also help but it’s not mandatory!!

What can we, the students, do to resolve this steps issue?

Can we collectively email them and demand answers? Start a petition? What can we do I’m honestly so disappointed

The parents on Facebook are being way too supportive of this change

I’ve seen some backlash but now a lot of parents are praising/okay with this change and as students I don’t even know what to do anymore. It’s screwed up my and a lot of other students graduation dates and Acellus doesn’t seem to care/acknowledge this change and imo it’s a pathetic showing of professionalism.

Personal finance step

Can everyone leave a comment on Acellus official TikTok page to bring back 40 steps?

I already left a lengthy comment. This impacts students so if you dont want the new step limit you’ll have to say something about it

The 40 step limit has already been incorporated for months now and they’ve been an accredited program so there’s no reason to randomly make it only 20 steps because even if you’re a slow paced learner, you have time to do your work. 40 steps was never compulsory for you to complete

I don’t understand if they’re trying to profit off us if you keep adding limits because it extends the time needed to complete your credits or if they like being stingy

any of their social media pages work. They need to be aware of how much this affects everyone

Honors Algebra 2 Removal??

Why did they remove Honors Algebra 2? I was using this to get ahead in my school but I was only 57% done with the course when they made the change and now I was switched to on-level and capped at 21 steps per week. I know they're going through re-accreditation, but what the hell is going on?

new limit for those confused: minimum 16-weeks to finish a full credit class

Edited to add: I have found out the 16 and 8 week limit may not apply to every single course, it might vary depending on difficulty of the course, and be based on how long it takes for students to “master the material”

But the the support email said:

- Minimum 16 weeks to finish full credit(1.0) class
- 8 weeks for half credit(0.5) class.

if you start a 330 step full credit class, divide by 16 = ~20 steps a week allowed.

- Other changes:
Apparently starting September 1st watching science live is no longer required for the scholarship, instead scholarship families will be asked to approve their student’s writing assignments (essays), before they go to teacher review.
All of your essays will also be saved in a collection “Acellus notebook” that will be apart of your graduation record. (I’m assuming to stop people from typing random things unrelated to the prompt)

Also there is a new service to detect if the schoolwork completed was by the student, if it’s detected that someone else has completed your lessons, the lessons completed will be “removed from the system.” And this may be grounds for termination of the scholarship.

I’m not sure if all of these are permanent changes, but this is the stuff I saw so far

New step limit is shocking

Im not going to sit here and complain, the new 20 step limit is really not doing it for me. Here are my current stats, am I behind? Im planning to go back to school around mid august. Here are my stats:

English 1: 73%
Biology: 68%
History: 80%
Algebra 1: 54%
This one I just started, it cut me off at 18 steps, yikes.
Personal finance: 13%

Any thoughts?
