Raw recording question:

So I do audiobooks. Had the chance to send a sample to a publisher. It came back saying it was pretty quiet and a bit muffled. What should my goal be for peak or total amplitude for the raw footage? I have done a few audiobooks so far and after mastering, I get compliments and it sounds great, but I want it to send the best it can before mastering. Right now it's coming in at -14.78 peak and -36.80 on the total rms.

They also said "since he's speaking so softly, his voice isn't far above the level of things like mouth noises and movement noises". So if it does need to be louder, maybe it's not just upping the gain, (cuz that'll just up the south noises as well) but upping my voice volume?

Audition 3.0 to ???

I use my Adobe Audition 3.0 daily for work. I love that it doesn’t cost me any money, I’m starting to wonder if I might be missing out on any upgrades or new features.

I record my radio show through this, voice only, my stuff at home tends to be just a bed music track and my voice. Nothing crazy. Every once in a while I need to get a commercial done for a festival, so the session gets a bit more work.

I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with Reaper. I was also looking at Hindenburg PRO. The Adobe Audition CC just seems like too much to pay when there are other options including staying with FREE.

Your feedback would be great! Thanks so much.

How would you fix this audio?

I'm stumped, posted is the original cut. I was told it was okay to air it, but the echo is horrid. I threw on a deReverb and tried messing with that but honestly I have no clue how to take this on. Any ideas to salvage something like this? This was a recorded call that can't be redone
