Do you still game with your IRL friends, or did you eventually find a new online group?

I'm 31 and I've pretty much always played games with the same group of IRL friends.

As we've got older though, everyone obviously has more going on and they don't play anywhere near as much. When they do, they mostly stick to the same games, don't really want to buy anything new unless it's free, and aren't that interested in trying new multiplayer games.

I'm still really into gaming. I like competitive games, trying new releases, ranked modes, etc., so I've started wondering how common this is as you get into your 30s.

For those of you around my age or older, do you still mostly play with friends you know IRL? Or did your original gaming group gradually stop playing and you ended up making a completely new group of gaming friends online?

If you did find a new group online, how did that actually happen?

Lately I’ve been really into brawlhalla, Fortnite, and mecha chameleon. I do play all sorts of other games those are just my current hyper fixations. (Also will play OSRS occasionally)

I also LOVE outlast trials, life is strange, dying light, it takes two, and many other story-driven, puzzle like games. I’m not bound to a certain genre and will play anything.

Why hello everyone!

I am here today to find myself that ride or die gaming buddy. That buddy that jumps into whatever dumbass thing you're doing that day and vice versa. That person I can trust to have my back in a game without talking. The homie you don't have to call out that next target, they just know.

I miss that. Its been a long time since I've had that kind of gaming bud due to work. Sadly, being in content creation I didn't have time for that and now that we're more into the game dev scene I am far more free in the evenings! I typically play from 6ish PM CST and beyond.

About me.

Primarily play FPS games. Right now Rivals is my dopamine funnel but that can change. Still screw around with apex and a few others. Basically I like pew pew fast paced arena shooters in general or games that have that loop in them somewhere. Im down for non PVP stuff but PVP stuff is the best place to test someones mental. You rage out on that, we're gonna have a bad time since I do like to play competitive games, in competitive modes.

This is going to sound a bit on the snob side, but. Please please please be an mnk user. Controllers do not fit into every fps game and I do not want a teammate that is a liability in a competitive game because aim assist isn't strong enough for you or something. If you cannot turn off aim assist in something like apex and still run a lobby, I do not want to rely on you in competitive games. Sorry I know this sounds rude as hell but I can't count the # of times this happens. If I wasn't looking for my literal ride or die, it wouldn't matter nearly as much and I'd just give you a little ribbing now and then about it in good fun. But I'm looking for my right hand here. Can't do that on a controller. Sorry.

I'm an OG when it comes to video games since the 80's.... Yes, I'm old but not out "YET". Currently playing MR (Marvel Rivals), FFXIV (Final Fantasy 14), and Palworld. I've played so many different MMO's over the years among other genres. I work 4/10's for those that don't know what that means. It' means work 4 days a week, 10 hours. So, if I'm not at work I'm either sleeping or playing video games. Between all the pc gaming platforms I have close to or over 300+ games. Pretty sure have something we can play together with. Hi, simply looking for some regular old gaming friends, I'm on PS5... people to play with daily/often? Age isn't an issue really but I'm in my mid 30's, from the UK, male if that matters 🤷‍♂️ I miss having regulars to chat to and play with to be honest, finding anyone else with similar time to myself is also a challenge.

I'm quite gentle/shy, introverted, but can come out with some occasionally either funny or stupid things to say ...along with some foul language 😅👍. I tried this once before and met some cool people, so here I am again, probably for the last time lol.

I love survival/co-op games where we build a world together, collect stupid things, explore, make questionable decisions and laugh. Project Zomboid and Valheim are the best examples right now. I also really like silly games like Repo and PlateUp for pure laughs, and I've been trying Helldivers 2 to come out of my comfort zone, even though I'm genuinely terrible at it lol.

What I want is someone eager to build and create something together, not just occupy the same server. I've noticed people play alongside you without really playing with you, hard pass on that. Curious, reasonably consistent, capable of both being silly and having an actual conversation, in it for the long haul, not a one time session and then the void.

I play weeknights and weekends when I'm not out and about. 30+ preferred.

To be completely honest, I find it really hard to make friends, so I'm giving this thing one more try 😭 Full disclosure: I am definitely a bit shy at first, but once I get comfortable around you, it’s going to be a whole different story

My gaming style is pretty flexible. I can easily marathon a game for 10 hours straight (with necessary snack/stretch breaks, of course lol), but I also hit a wall sometimes where I get socially drained. When that happens, I usually just unwind by watching movies or reading. I’d be totally down to stream my screen and just co-exist/lurk while we do our own thing!
