The nose seems quite boozy for the proof. Tropical and vegetal. Pineapple. Juicy fruit gum. Strawberry. Creamy coconut but also slightly lactic. Just a hint buried in there but it comes forward when the glass is empty.
The taste is sweet ripe cooked agave. More pineapple and juicy fruit gun, and coconut. Mint, pine. There's a bright citrus note in there. It's bitter but not that sour. Blends quite nicely with the lactic funk that comes through on the finish.
Everything I have tried that was made by Gerardo Peña has been absolutely amazing. I heard he retired earlier this year but may have come back. Not sure, but I did notice that the latest La Venenosa Puntas batch 39 was made by another Mezcalero.
