This is the most heartwarming and heartbreaking AFA video you will ever see. In fact, it is an amazing story - more or less ready for the Hallmark Channel - and it shows why A Foreign Affair tours are so special.
This is an amazing video. Watch the ENTIRE video all the way to the end. Dave was a lonely East Coast widower who had lost his wife and one daughter, only in her twenties, within a few months.
Obviously, that was traumatic. He was in shock. For about a year he didn't want to leave his house, but eventually his other kids had enough and used an AFA tour as an excuse to get him to do something.
Oh, and if you don't know what AFA tours are check out this page. I keep forgetting we have a constant stream of new visitors.
Anyhow, so Dave is trying to recover from his grief and his family pushes him to sign up for a tour. Without the push from AFA's matchmaker's he would have been right back to cheering for the Jets in a few weeks, which is also, of course, a sort of tragedy.
Poor guy!
But MAGIC happened on the tour and again at least twice in the next three years. You have to watch it all.
I believe this was filmed in the fall of 2019.
It is a beautiful story.
It also has a tragic kicker I did not know when I first posted this video.
Dave died of Covid in 2021 about 18 months after this video was filmed.
How does that change your view about Dave's story?
