How often do you listen to an album before reviewing it?

just curious. And yes, I know it’s probably differ depending on the album, but I wanna know like on average, between all the albums you’ve reviewed how many times did you usually listen to them?

Do yall take other people’s scores into account when rating or ignore them

i have just started listening and i feel like it isn’t as good as others say it is and i need to know if im obligated to rate it higher than i personally think

HOT TAKE: Some people take these websites too seriously

I used to run a joke account and my days people did not understand humour, I used to do it to get a reaction but eventually i realised it was not worth it and i wonder, why do people take AOTY so serious?

Is Astroworld the best album?

Is it wild to say that Astroworld may be the best album ever? I feel like it has established the greatest world for an album ever and done so much for hiphop culture. It is my favorite album of all time!! What’s ur opinion?

Trend feature is not accurate

I imagine that the issue has probably already been tackled by someone, but I couldn’t find anything concrete, so I’ll do it by asking: how does the new AOTY trend feature actually work?

Here as an example, I have a picture of Kanye West’s Bully around 500+ votes with a rating of 75. How come on the site around the same number of votes is a 71? Is the trend feature actually working or is it just random numbers and hope no one will notice?

I put Tobey Maguire screaming in the last slide cause I was watching Spiderman 2 and why not

What are the most motivated reviews you’ve ever seen?

Title. I find these types of reviews to be awesome to read, especially if they are shitting on the album big time. I want to see long winded reviews that talk about why they think they’re better than the Bible or worse than hell.

Here’s my all time favorite review to see the type of writing I’m looking for: https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/lord0fdiamonds/album/597-lift-yr-skinny-fists-like-antennas-to-heaven/

Artists with consistently 'decent' discographies?

What other bands have an almost impressively consistent opinion across a run of releases? E.g. Jungle now have 5 albums all between 72-74 user score. Bonus points for not even bothering to vary the album art format.

Do you guys think the “Fantano Effect” is still real?

I know this screenshot does not really show it but this EP was settling at a 75-74 before his review came out and after 5 days it’s 72-71.

Personally, I don’t think it’s that drastic as he gave it a 1 and the recent reviews rarely went that low, but I definitely think that it allowed people to be more harsh on their ratings.
