Downvote me all you want, disagree with what I am about to say but I gotta state the obvious that a lack of a physical release for this game with no plans or announcements for it confirming for a more digital direction for the sequel unbelievably sucks so much.

Considering the first game had a physical release to retailers, which again its not a live service title at all.

Theres an offline mode for single players with now an option of 3 bots following you this time whom you can ping and command to complete objectives and tasks or hold their ground/attack in the mission you go through. They can even crouch when you fire your weapon.

Theres a much more emphasized element of the IPs horror with increased atmospheric tension, scares and the action blending in as well.

Its a damn shame that they are being hush hush on the product for release. Play-Asia has it down for a physical release but who knows if that's going to change at all

There are still so many places in the world that have spotty networks, data caps on their internet, bad service in the location their in, or can't access it at all which limits them from even being able to play it if it goes digital.

You can all scream at me and say but digital is the future get use to it. Sadly no, digital copies can be revoked at any time from the publisher or the studio holding the rights.

At least a disc can still be played before updates and such.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 – Final Impressions Before the Review from IGN

We are 8 days away from launch and there's no pre-order on Steam or Epic. I don't know about anyone else but this is a pretty busy window for games that I'm interested in. AFE2, MGS Master Collection Vol. 2, Star Wars Zero Company launch in the same 3 day period, then next month there's Control Resonant, Dawn of War 4, Wolverine - All of these games have pre-orders.

What's the rationale with this game of not having that?

I absolutely adored the first title and the Alien franchise is one of my favorites in general. Naturally I have been super excited for this since it's reveal and have been cramming it down my friends' throats so we can all play together.

BUT. Something about this game makes me feel hesitant in ways other games nowadays don't as much? I do not know if it is just me (probably is just me hah).

The content seems 'fine'. The early preview event was again, 'fine' from most creator's perspectives. The Premium Edition having potential weapon locked items behind it plus and extra day 1 DLC with actual usable content and not just cosmetics is worrisome. The overall kind of radio silence from the team other than a few poorly edited class showcases. I want to be excited and I still am but it is making me cautious in having my buddies fork over to all buy the game themselves on my request...

Again, it is likely just me but with how games are marketed and devs are more vocal about their games nowadays this one has me just feeling a bit on the cautious side. I wish there had been some sort of beta or demo to build up hype even?

Deluxe edition comes with both the "Ripley's Hive Exterminator Modified Pulse Rifle" (along with decals and stuff) and then the "Herk's Mondo Pest Modified Pulse Rifle" (with its own set of colors and decals).

Does anyone know if these are legit variants of the Pulse Rifle that will function as different guns in game or simply cosmetic and maybe sfx changes? There doesn't seem to be any concrete information on it, at least as far as I could find and thought maybe closer to release we would find out but still haven't.
