I'm leaving this group, and I want to be honest about why, starting with myself.

When I joined, I was genuinely excited. I've been reading tarot for twenty years and madly in love with these cards for twenty-five, and the idea of finding a community of people who feel the way I do about them lit me up. I came in ready to share everything I've learned, learn new things I hadn't and chat with liked minded spiritualists.

But over time, that excitement started to dull. I'd open the group and see the same question, over and over and over: Will he text me? What is he thinking? Why is he delaying his response? What did he think of our first date? And I'll be honest, I started responding to some of these with annoyance. Little digs. Comments that weren't kind, weren't encouraging, weren't the person I actually want to be. I pride myself on not posting to tear down or to vent, and when I caught myself doing exactly that, I didn't like who I was being.

So let me say clearly: all of that judgment is mine. Those reactions are mine to sit with, and they were never anyone's to be weaponized against. If I left a comment on your post that carried even a little of that edge, I genuinely apologize. Your questions are fair. Caring about someone, wondering where you stand, hoping they text back, those are among the most human things there are, and none of you owe me or anyone else a different way of using your own cards.

But since I'm leaving anyway, let me offer a couple of things with real love. Take them or leave them entirely.

The first is an observation I can't unsee. I've read through maybe fifty of these posts now, and something struck me: EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. centers a man. Will he, does he, why did he. And in fifty posts, I have not seen one, not one, that asks "what is she thinking? What's in her head? Why hasn't she responded?" And it made me wonder, gently: for so many of us here, and I'd guess many of us are women or gay men, why are we pouring this much energy into how a man feels about us, and so little into how we feel about ourselves? Why does his head get fifty readings and ours gets none?

There was one brave one yesterday about how she just ended a relationship and was going to take September to focus on herself and live on business and self-growth, but the post was titled "what will September bring for my love life" - that means youre hoping for signals from others while you already know the right answer.

The second is about the cards themselves. Tarot is at its most powerful as a mirror, not a telescope and certainly not a mind reading device. Is your mind made up all of the time? Or are you human and have bouts of clarify,remorse, connection, desire and aggravation? Right, he does too, so asking it to prognasticate when he doesnt even know what to think feel or do is just reflecting YOUR hopes and fears, not his mental space. Tarot will always struggle to tell you what's happening inside someone else's head, that's not what it's built for. But it is extraordinary at showing you what's happening inside your own. When you spend a reading trying to decode him, you're pointing the most powerful self-reflection tool I know at the one person it can't actually see and missing the most important one.

So next time you feel that pull to ask "is he thinking about me," maybe try turning the lens around: Why does his response decide how I feel about myself today? What am I hoping he'll give me that I could begin giving myself? What do I actually want here, and am I choosing me in it? and most importantly WHY AM I THINKING ABOUT HIM, and most importantly, WHY AM I PRIORITIZING SOMEONE ELSE OVER ME?

Those questions are scarier. They're also the ones that change your life instead of just your evening.

Thank you for the fun while it lasted, finding a tarot community really was a joy, even briefly, and I'll keep looking for the corner of it that's my speed. Wishing every single one of you so much love and clarity. You deserve to be the main character in your own reading, not a supporting character in his.
