What kind of behavioural problems would you see in a yellow naped amazon who was sold as an unweaned chick?
Don't worry, this is for a creative writing project! no real life birds are at risk of harm!
In the story there is a fourteen year old yellow naped amazon who was bought as an unweaned chick 'with ignorance' and gifted to someone who has lots of very good intentions but no experience and somewhat limited access to specialised resources (so can go to a regular vet but not afford a bird behaviourist, things like that).
So this bird has a 'childhood' filled with love and a lot of good intentions, but not enough skill and experience by its owner. No other birds in the home.
What kind of behavioural quirks or challenges would you expect from such a bird?
How would they differ from a bird who had a healthier start in life?
I do picture this animal character as being a bit of a menace. I am not looking to write a parrot version of lassie.
The underlying theme is that love and good intentions are not enough sometimes.
So any stories of your parrots being absolute menaces and making life difficult is also appreciated.
