Thoughts on this neighborhood in Anaheim?

Thoughts on this neighborhood in Anaheim?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying a home in the neighborhood roughly enclosed by La Palma Ave, Magnolia Ave, W Crescent Ave, and N Gilbert St (red box in the photo is the area I’m referring to)

I’d love to hear from people who live there or know the area well

Some things I’m curious about:
- Overall safety (day and night)
- Noise levels
- Any issues with crime?
- How the neighborhood has changed over the last few years?
- Whether it’s a good area for long term homeownership
- Anything I should know before buying there?

I’m not expecting a perfect neighborhood. I know every area has pros and cons. Just hoping to get some honest opinions from people with firsthand experience 😊

Thanks in advance!

Flakey Jake’s

I remember travelling to Anaheim in 1997 and going to a restaurant called Flakey Jake’s. Anyone have any photos of it and an idea of its old address?

What do these markings mean?

Hey Anaheim I was bored and just curious on what these markings on the sidewalks mean. I’m guess they’re related to construction

nerdy stores and locations in anaheim

hello!! im not totally sure if this is the best place to ask — so if anyones got a more specific subreddit for me to skedaddle to please do let me know.

im staying in anaheim with my family from the 8th to the 14th. theyre mostly baseball and shopping kinda people, but i dont have as much fun with that kinda stuff.

i play a lot of video games, watch anime, etc etc, (dont worry i shower) and i was wondering if theres any cool shops or events i can check out while in the area. i’ve done some research myself of course, but an opinion from somebody who has experience would be much appreciated.

anyhoo, thanks!

Anyone else sick with a severe respiratory infection right now?

My kids brought home what seemed to be a cold after finishing school, started as a sore throat and progressed to a really bad dry cough and then lots of mucous. I came down with it but lm still sick 2 1/2 weeks later. Similar to allergy like symptoms. Anyone else experiencing this? Might be HMPV, my kids are vaccinated against RSV.

Looking for the family of a woman who left Anaheim for LA

Samantha (31) left an unsafe relationship in Anaheim and ended up in LA in my neighborhood. She is sweet and kind but extremely paranoid (nanobots in food, communists watching her, bill gates kill switch etc) according to her, her mom and sister are doing drugs and can’t help her out. she doesn’t want to stay at a DV shelter because of her paranoia and suspicion of any kind of treatment. I charged her phone for her and folks are giving her food, water, blankets, but she is fasting and trying to avoid sleeping (conspiracies). I know it’s a long shot, but does anyone know the family of a woman named Samantha with long wavy black hair, tan skin, thin? She worked at Ralph’s before coming to LA.

Heads up: Major construction coming to Katella Ave (Walnut St. to Harbor Blvd.) from Oct. 2026 through April 2028

Just saw this notice from the City of Anaheim and thought I’d share it since a lot of people use this stretch of Katella.
The city is planning a Resort Area Sanitary Sewer and Roadway Widening Improvement Project between Walnut Street and Harbor Boulevard.

Where to leave my Broken Car?

Long story short. I had a hit-and-run situation last week and my car is a total loss (can't move it). I have insurance, but not collision, therefore my insurance won't do anything about it. I already contacted the person's insurance, and they are processing the case. In the meantime, where do I leave the car? I don't have a driveway or a friend who can help. Just leave it on the street? Keep getting street sweeping tickets and request the other insurance to pay for them? Thanks! Can the city help in some way?

Solo Traveling for two day

Hi everyone, I’m staying in a hotel in anaheim for two day starting July 1st my family drives down from Nevada for my brothers birthday, My plans for the first day is to go to the beach, but was more trying to figure out what to do the next day. I don’t really wanna go to Disney or Knotts Berry farm so i’m more so just asking what would be a great thing to do the second day? I plan on going to an angels baseball game on Friday night by myself as well. Is there any cool museums you recommend to check out in the area?
I was looking for either an art museum or a nature history museum if possible!

I have been to Anaheim many of times cause that is where my Dad’s side grew up, but never did a solo trip. Also I know by the time i get down there pride month will be over but if you have any recommendations for a good gay bar to just go either hangout or even see a drag show that would be cool as well!

Seeking... alternate attraction ideas

I am considering going to the CSUN conference in '27 and am trying to plan the rest of the trip. For context: 1) I don't drive, so I'm looking for things that are clustered and walkable 2) Based on that, I figure shopping centers/areas will be main anchor points. The thing is that most that I've been able to find info for online seems to be 90% clothes or food, but rarely is there any real variety. I'm looking at somewhere between 1 and 1.5 days.

The Anaheim home base is likely to be the Marriot where the conference is. I have family in Santa Monica(who has an actually informative visitor website), so I pretty much have that covered.

So here's my query: what areas are interesting to browse through that have a variety of things to look at(that aren't all fashion/clothing or aren't focused entirely on food)?

Thanks in advance!

Cat spay/neuter vet clinics?

I have a few feral that I feed but they keep multiplying so I want to get them fixed so I Googled TNR (Trap Neuter Release) programs just for them to tell me it's $700+ each.

I saw two aliens in 2022.

This is a weird post for this subreddit but I’m posting this because I want to know if anyone has had any similar experiences in Anaheim. First off I want to say I’m not on any medication, I don’t have any mental health problems & I wasn’t taking any drugs or alcohol when this happened. It was a normal night and this really happened to me. I’ve never had any other encounter like this one in my entire life.

My mom owns a house in the neighborhood behind Rio Vista and Lincoln. Now here’s some details about the house for context. She owns a pretty big house and in the living room there’s a 6 foot window. Behind the living room is a hallway where you can see the entire hallway with 5 different doors in the hallway with different rooms connected to the hallway. When I lived with her we had one dog. It was a regular night, I came home and got ready for bed after work since I work as a server and it was late. Between 4-5 am I heard my dog growling- she would growl at that window often because small animals would pass by. I was super annoyed after a few barks because I was trying to sleep. I figured she either a) had to potty or b) had seen an animal. So I got up completely. I wasn’t dreaming, I was awake and annoyed. I got up and I walked into the hallway half asleep and immediately became frozen with fear. When I turned to the living room window I seen two HUGE ass aliens side by side. I assume they were mother and child because one was smaller one was taller. At first I thought it was an intruder but after observing I realized they were insanely thin, gray and not human. The sun was starting to come up and I could see some light behind them. They observed me and I felt frozen while my dog just barked and barked and barked and it felt like forever. They just watched. They were still and I could see them clear as day. She continued to bark and I couldn’t move. I don’t know if it was fear or if it was them stopping me from moving. I finally pulled myself together and I could only think about the safety of my dog. I was finally able to bolt down the hallway to grab my dog to bring her into my room. I didn’t look at them I just ran toward the window to get her and when I finally looked up they vanished. In 7 ish seconds they were gone. I ran to my mom’s room screaming. I told her what I saw and she said I was dreaming and told me to go back to my sleep. She basically dismissed everything I saw for the sake of her sleep. I brought my dog to my room and we just looked at each other like bro did you just see that?????? Eventually my dog and I went to sleep but I’ll never forget this. They just observed her. Oh another thing, the only part of the house that doesn’t have cameras is that part. I checked other ring footage from that time and there was nothing! I was about 28 when this happened and I still think about this often.

Dispensary/delivery after 10pm?

Our flight lands in Santa Ana at 10pm, and that seems to be when the dispensaries close. Are late night delivery services legit? Or are there any legit dispensaries open late?
