As the title says, I started playing back in 2017, and every summer, I’ve tried hunting for tarantulas to very little success. I have yet to catch one, as every time I’ve seen one, either I timed it wrong, didn’t have my net on me, or it killed itself before I could do anything.
Surely the tarantulas can’t be that rare… I’ve seen way more scorpions over the years. Almost seeing them on a daily basis every time I play when they’re active. This year so far, I’ve only seen one tarantula. My town has plenty of space for them to spawn, they just… never do.
The tarantula is one of two bugs I haven’t caught, (the other being the petaltail dragonfly), and then my entire critter collection would be complete. It pains me so much that I’ve had so few encounters with them. I’ve walked around my entire town for hours with no results. Kept the net in my inventory, listened for the scuttling, cleared even more space for them to spawn, played as much as possible in June when other bugs aren’t spawning, played on the summer solstice night, and nothing. I’m probably doing something wrong somewhere, I’m sure, but I’ve tried everything I know. Are they really this rare?

This is my first ever animal crossing new leaf town that I started in august 2025. I honestly don’t love the placement of the town tree area and the map itself after seeing some of other peoples town layouts (though I would never delete my town anyway). What do you guys think of my map?

So, I found a fossil here, and now I can't cover up the hole...? The game just does that "whoop!" sound it does when you try to shovel somewhere you're not allowed to. Can't plant anything, can't cover it up with the shovel.... There's just a hole here now forever.
Edit: I actually decided to delete the town and start fresh about 5m after this (I used the vapecord plugin to do a bunch of cheats that made a bunch of progression unnecessary, and I haven't opened this game in over a year anyways, so it just felt like time) so I'll never know if this was fixable or would just disappear after a restart lol
he replaced rasher in my heart after rasher started being so mean to me for no reason (i.e. me thoroughly creeping him out probably)
So if some of you don't know, I made a previous post talking about getting annoyed by not finding the last fossil and decided to remove all the trees to place them all in more better spots. Got rid of all the trees, also decided to move my flowers and guess what I found? The fucking fossil right here. I couldn't find this fossil for days, I'm mad at myself.
If u dont know, there used to be a server called pretendo crossing, essentially a dc for acnl players. Then an admin made their own version cuz the og one died. But it turns out the new seever owner is a real asshole, they are both homophobic and transphobic, and treat the mods like shit. The reason i know this, is because i was a mod for them. I thankfully left that toxic community. But i just wanted to warn yall about its toxic owner.
Maybe I should add more chairs tho? Looks weird when is not centered lol

I've been looking for some to plant in my town because I need to catch a snail on a hibiscus bush whenever it's raining, but I can never seem to find them in either Leifs garden shop or the island gift shop
