youtu.beA man, a piano and a melody - Philibert
Hey everybody! I just finished my first stop-motion short film, and I’m really excited (and a little nervous) to share it with you. I’d love your honest feedback! :)
The story:
Philibert, a man who hears a mysterious melody while sleeping, tries to play it on the piano. He struggles at first, but eventually, the music leads him to somewhere magical.
How I made it:
- I started with the music and composed the piano piece first—music was the heart of this project.
- Philibert was handmade: wood dust + white glue + aluminium wire for the structure, patafix & sewing thread for the hands, polystyrene & clay for the face, pearls for the eyes, and leftover fabric for clothes.
- I built two sets, including all the little props, furniture, and the pianos, over a few weeks.
- Filming was done with a HUE HD PRO camera and two desk lights. I experimented a lot with angles, lighting, and camera movement.
- I added all the sound effects myself—the final soundtrack is my favorite part!
I’d be super grateful for any feedback, whether it’s about the animation, storytelling, or even the music. I’m trying to learn as much as possible from this first project!
I made some animations on my computer for a few months
All of these are made by me
