Keisuke Kobayashi is my favorite character acting animator, even amongst the very best such as Hiroyuki Okiura, Toshiyuki Inoue, and Takeshi Honda. His work is wonderful, being a mixture of realistic motion while also keeping it fluid enough to still have that "anime" feel to it. His running and walking cycles are always so natural, his fabric folding is always accurate and appealing to the eye, and he always includes little details like hair movements, arm swings, or a character having a slightly different walk or run cycle from another to differentiate their personalities.
Best of all, he hasn't used rotoscoping for a single sequence (besides his NiNoKuni sequences), which means that he's able to grasp this sense of translating human movements into animation simply with his mindset and eye balls. Not to diminish another legendary animator, but someone like Kouki Fujimoto, for example, uses rotoscope to achieve movements like that.
His best work is for sure in I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. You couldn't imagine the face I made discovering that none of his work there was rotoscoped. Actual legend.
