Favorite Anne Shirley book?

I’m so curious to see what wins!! Or I mean….what wins second place lmao…I’m so sorry but I can only put in 6 options so I’ll group some of them. Personally I loved Anne of Avonlea and Anne’s House of Dreams<3. Also enjoyed the first part of Anne of Windy Poplars but the second part got pretty stale for me. And if somebody would like to share why they liked a certain book the most I’d love to hear it!!!

Anne of Green Gables LEGO Set

Hey everyone! There is a vote going on right now for an Anne of Green Gables LEGO set (on the LEGO Ideas website). It has already been voted on before, but sadly didn’t pass through the final stage. The creator Iyan Ha has put their idea up once again, hopefully this amazing set will be approved and Green Gables will be sold in LEGO stores around the world! If you are interested please vote to bring this set to life!!👒🥕

What do you think happened to Annie?

I am curious because she was inside Ethan during Rick Potion #9 building the new Anatomy Park (Emphasis on the Pirates of the Pancreas). She is likely dead after everyone turned into cronenbergs). Wondering what you all think hapened, like how she died, or if she survuvrd somehow.

Also do you think she could be in the new Ethan on both Parmesanan Dimension and C-131. She had the potential to be a good side character.

How it feels trying to keep track of the side characters in the Anne series

I just finished Windy Poplars.

How L.M Montgomery’s mental state influences her writing.

Hello!! Beware, this is just a random yapping session. I always found it interesting that you can (at least to me) tell how Maud was feeling when writing a book. I know that her life overall was pretty depressing but I guess you can tell when it was worse:,D.
I actually really like the Pat series! At least more than others from what I’ve seen lmao. I guess I just kinda accepted Pat’s….patness. But apparently someone argued that the main characters insistence on having everything stay the same could be a reflection of a post WW1 going through numerous changes. While reading the book I just went “kinda weird girl, but okaaaaay” and just rolled with it, but still, fascinating!
I’m not gonna talk about Windy Poplars for long but I can just say that I could feel that Maud was tired of the Anne series. A character could appear for one chapter and their only problem would be fixed in the next or same one (and never to be seen again, rip).
I think “Anne’s house of dreams” was actually one of my favorites- but did Leslie’s backstory feel jarring to anybody? I actually ended up loving her a lot (since she’s one of the more complicated characters in the series imo), but the way Miss Cornelia started lore dumping about what happened to Leslie was strange to me because It felt like these kind of details would’ve been more omitted in the other books- reading that chapter I was thinking “I wonder what the hell was going on in the authors life….” and lo and behold, the book was released in 1917.
Haven’t read Rainbow Valley or Rilla yet, but I’ve heard things about Rilla specifically that make me a little worried about how much I will cry…..
Thank you for reading<3!!

There needs to be a Blue Castle movie!

Just finished reading the book and (obviously) loved it! Can’t stop thinking that Matt Smith would be the perfect Barney and I see Saorise Ronan embodying Valancy perfectly! What would your dream casting be?

This is an Anne doll as a teacher. Please let me know what you think ! My older brother commissioned a doll artist to make this for my birthday.

What to read next?

Hello!! I hope I’m writing on the right subreddit lol. I’m kinda stuck on the Anne Shirley series because my local library does not have the 7th part (and I don’t want to skip). I kid you not- after my mother asked if they have the 7th instalment a few weeks later I found 2 Anne of Inglesides and no Rainbow Valley, lmao. Might have to look for it in a different place but now I’m on the Pat series- I enjoy it a lot!! I’m now in the middle of Mistress Pat but what is the next series you guys would recommend? I’ve heard high praise for Emily but I’m still curious.

A 19th Century Version of "Friends" - Class in Anne Movie Trilogy

Hello,

I was just wondering, with the Megan Follows movies, if any else feels like they are watching a sort of 19th-century, Canadian version of "Friends". Does it feel sort of yuppie-ish? I mean, the main characters aren't rich, but they are not low-class either. Gilbert the Doctor, Anne the successful writer, Fred (Diana's husband) the banker. At Fred and Diana's wedding there's a maid carrying a three-tiered cake, and when Anne goes to inquire about Gilbert who's home from medical school with an illness, she chases down a laborer employed by the Blythes... A lot of these kids went to school and then to college, a lot of the girls marry rich men (or play with them)... I mean, these people aren't average. These are some yuppie types. It's kind of tricky, because there are a lot of times in the films where they sort of appeal to a "simple-folk" vibe (like Matthew Cuthbert - aw gee shucks vibe, and Anne saying how she longs for the wholesomeness of Green Gables) but I think that's a little deceptive. These are somewhat elite people we are dealing with. These aren't average people. A lot of these people are exceptional. I suppose it wouldn't be as interesting of a story if the characters were more average. Having them wear pretty clothes and go to parties is probably more fun to watch. Plus they need lots of disposable income and free time to have the energy for drama or to have adventures. Working stiffs would probably be too tired or busy for parts of the plot actions.

Still, I feel like I'm watching a story of "my betters". These people aren't like me. They occupy a higher class, and I was wondering if anyone else thought about that sort of thing.

Cheers!

Where do I stream the old from the 80s Anne of green gables in Canada?

Where do I stream the 80s Anne of Green Gables in Canada. I have covid and it would really help my 40 year old soul to rewatch it.

L.M. Montgomery, My Love.

So pleased to see Ramona reading Rilla of Ingleside! Annie & her upbringing already remind me of Diana Berry & Ramona of Anne. There's a coastal Canadian town, as well as orphans & adoption. I look forward to seeing how this show might mirror the books. It's also great to see something with such wonderful sapphic representation.
