Names
Have any of you named a child or a pet after one of the characters? If so, which one?

After years of reading the translated books this is the first time I am reading (or listening to) originals.
It’s funny how some things are translated or changed - and I get it, especially with jokes.
It makes me feel like I am reading a new story, in a way.
Here are few things that I noticed, feel free to add your observances!
- Rilla in the last book (btw called ‘Anne’s daughter Rilla’ instead of RoI) stammers, not lisps. So there is no ‘Yeth’, but ‘Y-y-yes’ instead.
- Ken calls her ‘Rilla, my little Rilla’ - I was not aware there was a potential age gap between them, this surely plays into it.
- Paul’s catchphrase is ‘You get me/you understand, miss teacher’ and ‘My mommy’. I was confused about little mother.
- Gog and Magog are mispronounced as an equivalent of Ron and Moron.
My sister has a free table at her building, and she asked if I wanted it! I immediately said yes. Who knows what happened to the Green part (lost to the ages), but I really like the rest of it. I may repaint the trees green - we'll see!
Wow, that is amazingly messed up. B. M., the lad with the apt initials, is psycho... how is this portrayed as a GOOD thing????
It’s a bit disorganised but I love them so far! Especially the edition on the left I bought in Korea!! :D
I got these books years and years ago from my grandmother (who also got me all the Anne books). I started The Story Girl, but I just couldn't get into it. I think part of it was that I love Road to Avonlea, which is loosely based on this book, but I do mean loosely. The book and the show diverge in a lot of ways, and I had a hard time getting my head around the characters as presented in the book, even though it's the source material.
Just curious as to other people's opinions on these books. I just finished re-reading the whole Anne series for the umpteenth time and I'm wondering if I should give them another shot.
*sorry if this is not something to post in this sub*
I love Anne's whimsy and use of big words and really her ability to romanticize life. So basically as the title says I would like to be more like her so if you had any tips that would be much appreciated.
They are so adorable together.
Adding onto someone’s post saying we should share our collections, and I can’t post an image in that thread! I wanted a different edition for every Anne book, but going forward I’ll probably just collect the Bantam editions. My newest one is The Blue Castle, which I’m reading for the first time for a book club on tumblr next month!
The Anne doll is a Madame Alexander from the 90’s, I should probably change her outfit for the spring!
Hi guys, anybody wanting to also rant about Phoebe Moyer and her pronunciation of words.... ?
Join me.
Feel free to compare it to Karen Savage.
(I am NOT complaining - I understand Windy Poplars and Anne of Ingleside are only now coming out of copyright - I understand.
I WILL get through Windy Poplars and Karen will be there to welcome me on the other side in the House of Dreams)
I just cringe every time and need y'all to share your feels about it too, please😄
I've found nearly all of these in thrift stores!
Are you like me and have a mismatched collection and multiple editions, or do you just have one edition? Which cover is your favourite?
If you ask Anne, she would say .....
"Pretty? Oh, pretty doesn’t seem the right word to use. Nor beautiful, either. They don’t go far enough." 💓
I saw her house but I was too shy to take a picture. Here's the plaque at the park.
I am a huge fan of Anne and currently trying to watch all the films/series made. I have read all the books, however it is quite a high level of English which makes me enjoy the later books less (only the first two are translated to my first language).
I have watched the films from 1985 (I love the second, Anne is SOO PRETTY there!!) and Anne with an E. I would like to watch the film from 2016 and its sequel (even though the casting of Gilbert makes me want to scream) but can not find it anywhere online.
I live in Europe but have a VPN so that might work.
Also, if you have any tips about other films or series about Anne, I’d be happy to know!
I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the book!!!
Whenever we get a glance of Gilbert's perspective I'm just smiling like a pervert lol. And also can we please talk about what a perfect side character Roy Gardner is?? It pisses me off that LMM couldn't get his last name right later on but he was the perfect university fling, I love how convincing LMM made both Anne's infatuation and rejection of Roy. Being her ideal from head to toe and the lack of humour being her ick point was so goodddd! And also what a name!
I think I adore pretty much all the characters in this book, the patty's place girls and aunt Jamesina were amazing. And Rustyyyyyyyyy!! It was definitely a shame how the relationships Anne build during Redmond isn't mentioned enough in the books later.
Last but not the least the Sam guy that proposed to Anne was hilarious...and I was actually so pissed at Janet's story. That man should've cut ties with his mum 20 years ago!
And do let me know if anyone has a clue about what Gilbert was thinking when he and Anne were walking back together from Diana's wedding! They were talking about people growing up and change, and there's a scene where Gilbert quotes a poem looking absent. I don't think there's any description of him being absent around Anne except for that Christine chapter in Ingleside, so I've always wondered what LMM was trying to imply here.
As a fellow fat ass, I relate so hard to her.
