Anthrax Fistful Of Metal First Canadian Press W/ Paper Labels.

I still have this tape I bought when I was like 12. I love how these Banzi releases looked. I also have Show No Mercy, Haunting The Chapel, Welcome to Hell & Canadian Assault Banzi Cassettes that have this same old school look. One of my favorite labels. I have Hell Awaits on vinyl as well. It’s so cool how one label is the Banzi logo. The Metallica vinyl releases look sick too!!

Anthrax 3 singles

What does everyone think of the new anthrax singles? Do they sound like a very good album is coming up, does it sound better than any of the recent thrash albums from old school bands, and how would you rank the singles so far?

My ranking:

It’s for the kids
Everybody’s got a plan
The edge of perfection

What do you guys think?

Some new album covers for Volume 8

I created new album covers for my favorite Anthrax album. Four versions to choose from. With classic and modern logo. Now it looks more... serious I think

Lucky finds!

All week I’ve been close to buying both these albums on eBay- older and tattered pressings with heightened prices. Thankfully, my go-to online store in the UK (Juno) had these back in stock for half the price I would’ve paid on eBay. Not even sure how I came across the listings but glad I did!

Stomp 442

Hi 👋 Was there ever any explanation for Charlie writing all the music on Stomp 442? I'm surprised Scott only wrote lyrics for that album. Did Charlie decide to take over? Did Scott decide to step back? Was he burnt out? I understand Charlie took over lead guitar at that time, but you'd think the rhythm guitarist would still be writing riffs 🤘🤘

EDIT

Thanks for the information, everyone. I had no idea that Charlie simply wrote most of the music for Anthrax. I was obsessed with them back in the early to mid 2000s and they were probably 2nd behind Metallica for me for a few years. But I didn't have much internet time as a kid back then and obviously, we didn't have the wealth of information we have now.

I knew how Metallica operated, and just figured that Scott Ian was writing most of the riffs, I did know that Charlie played guitar and wrote the solos on the 90s albums, but no, I didn't realize he has written the majority of the music for the band. That's just crazy to me.

I have to wonder who writes the vocal melodies. I'm the James Hetfield for my band, and when I write vocal melodies, most of the time, I'm writing them on guitar.

So, for the vast majority of the band's existence, it's been:

"Charlie writes the riffs Scott, Joey, and John write lyrics The band, give or take a few members, arranges the songs"

Do I have this right? It's still blowing my mind 😄

Anthrax went through numerous vocalists before they got Joey, is there any reason why Scott didn't want to switch from playing guitar to just becoming their vocalist? He's a belter or yeller, so it would have been more punk, but that's a big part of thrash metal's influence.

Is there any reason why Charlie didn't want to play guitar in the band instead of drumming?

So the first vocalist wanted the bass player out because he was too tall?

Scott Ian is short and Spitz is like 5 2. That first album was cheesy but it was good. Your thoughts on this?

Does Scott regret the direction of the band in the early days?

Anthrax reminds me of Exodus sometimes: never taking metal seriously.

Scott Ian knew Metallica through a demo tape , got to know Cliff Button. They wore shirts and jeans just like onstage

Did it ever occur to Scott that dressing in leather was not the right move? Did he ever think for a moment when he was doing all those backing vocals he himself could have been the frontman?

When did he realize after getting John Bush was the right fit all along? I know exactly why he wanted Belladonna out of the band. He can regret it all he wants now but he didn't then.

I could ramble more but not this time.

Cursum Perficio reviews thread

Hi all, just starting a thread here if anyone can post where you might see any magazine or online reviews of the new record please?

I’m not asking for articles from paid media to be posted - please still support the print and digital media!!!

But if you see any reviews please feel free to let us know in this thread so we can go out and purchase the digital or printed magazine. I’m super keen to see the write ups from the likes of Metal Hammer and others, which I imagine will start to appear soon before the record’s release date.

Cheers all ☺️

Anthrax - Everybody's Got A Plan

ANTHRAX

Share “Everybody’s Got A Plan”

From Upcoming Cursum Perficio

Out Sept 18, 2026

ANTHRAX have today (August 7) released the latest single and video, “Everybody’s Got A Plan,” from their long-awaited 12^(th) full-length studio album CURSUM PERFICIO out September 18 via Megaforce Records.

The new video was mostly filmed on July 7 in Lisbon, Portugal when the multi-GRAMMY® Award-nominated New York hard rock titans—Scott Ian (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Frank Bello (bass), Joey Belladonna (vocals), and Jonathan Donais (guitar)—toured with Iron Maiden in Europe. It features live performance footage and behind the scenes backstage fun with cutaways to classic B&W boxing footage that underline the song’s central lyrics: “Everybody’s got a plan/That’s until they get punched in the face…” Watch the video and listen to the incendiary song, with its massive riffs and ferocious vocals, HERE.

“‘Everybody’s Got a Plan’ has always been one of my favorite songs on Cursum Perficio,” Benante says. “The video basically shows the band on and off stage in a montage of video clips that kinda matches the velocity of the song.  ‘Everybody’s got a plan/That’s until they get punched in the face’ is such a great line, and so true!”

“Most of this video was shot opening for [Iron] Maiden in Lisbon, Portugal at Estádio da Lu on July 7, 2026,” Ian notes. “We wanted to capture us having fun on tour and what better way to do that? That was a plan that didn’t end up with a punch in the face! Have fun watching my friends!”

Bello adds, “This video is a great representation of a day in the life of Anthrax on tour.”

ANTHRAX have previously released two singles and videos from CURSUM PERFICIO“It’s For The Kids” a classic ANTHRAX ripper locked and loaded with buzzsaw-sharp riffs, explosive drumming, and a howling and head-banging hook. It undoubtedly has all the makings of a future live staple. Listen HERE and watch the official music video HERE. It was followed by “The Edge Of Perfection,” highlighted by clean guitar echoes and cymbals that gently shake until a blastbeat blows open the doors. Guitars buzz like a motorboat on the River Styx, making waves through the darkness. In their wake, a crushing rhythm trails the melody of lead singer Joey Belladonna’s lament, “My heart breaks…I’m on the edge…I’m on the edge of perfection. Listen to “The Edge Of Perfection” HERE and watch the official music video HERE.

Meanwhile, the group recently announced they were rolling out uniquely animated short clips based on the album cover, with the first clip shared July 28. The worked with artist Mark Stritzel for the striking cover and the animation was done by Emmanuel Cappellini. Mark initially worked with the band’s Charlie Benante on the characters featured on the album cover. Watch the first clip HERE and listen to the story HERE. Every Tuesday, the group will unveil the individual stories of each character featured on the album. Beyond the Magician’s story, subsequent weeks will reveal more about the Woman In WhiteDogWinged Skeleton, and concluding September 1 with Hands.

CURSUM PERFICIO marks the band’s first record in ten years since 2016’s For All Kings, which debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. The phrase Cursum Perficio is Latin for “My journey has come to an end, “My journey is over, or “I complete my journey. It proves apropos for such a complete body of work. It will be available as a standard CD; Target exclusive CD with a fabric patch of the album cover; standard black double LP with pop-up gatefold; Target exclusive double LP, red zoetrope with pop up gatefold; Amazon exclusive double LP, purple zoetrope LP with pop-up gatefold; merch exclusive lilac vinyl double LP with pop-up gatefold; Metal Injection exclusive white vinyl double LP with pop-up gatefold; Talk Shop Live exclusive signed with red ripple vinyl double LP with pop-up gatefold; Indie exclusive – red, orange yellow vinyl double LP with pop-up gatefold. To pre-order/pre-save, click HERE.

The band dove into recording CURSUM PERFICIO in earnest during 2022, working out of Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles. They carefully pieced together what would be this magnum opus, mining their history with reverence, delivering on fan expectations tenfold, and broadening the scope of their signature sound. Produced by Jay Ruston and ANTHRAX, the result is an album that’s as angry, aggressive, and alive as their most celebrated fare.

The CURSUM PERFICIO track listing is as follows:
Persistence of Memory
The Long Goodbye
It’s For the Kids
Everybody’s Got A Plan
The Edge Of Perfection
Infectious
NYC93
