Bactrim DS causing irritation and mood swings

Earlier this week I had a red lump in my belly button that was painful and produced an unpleasant smell+purulent fluid. I was placed on Bactrim DS after going to a walk in clinic. I believed it worked, since I'm on the last day and I don't see the red bump anymore. But during the dosage I didn't feel like myself. I would have a very low temper, I was arguing with my boyfriend, and I was irritated almost 24/7. Is this normal? I wouldn't expect an antibiotic to cause this degree of neurological side effects. The only other medication I take is Concerta for my ADHD.

Cephalexin side affect?

35 F

About a week ago I got cephalexin for a UTI, I’m not stranger to UTIs as I’ve had them since I was younger, I don’t think I’ve ever taken cephalexin and idk if this is a side affect, I’ve read a couple of post with people saying it caused anxiety which seems like it has peaked mine a bit as well, but I’m on day 5 of 7 yesterday I started feeling “pressure” down there, not quite sure how to explain it but seems like pressure, like something wants to come out of my vag. Today it’s a bit more intense to the point of when I go to use the bathroom I’m scared to push, I felt around and it just felt swollen really, doesn’t hurt besides some of the sting still from the uti when I pee but besides that no really in pain more than discomfort

Anyone else feel this?

Azithromycin (Zpack)

Hello everyone. I was prescribed a Z-Pack — 500mg the first day, then 250mg for days 2–5 — and I’m honestly terrified to take it because of all the horror stories and side effects people keep telling me about. I already haven’t slept in almost 48 hours because of how sick and nauseous I’ve been, and I genuinely cannot handle vomiting mentally. It sends me into severe panic attacks and complete psychological distress, so the thought of taking something that could possibly make me sick is terrifying to me.

I also don’t have any way to get probiotics right now, which makes me even more anxious about starting it. Part of me keeps wondering if this ear infection could possibly clear up on its own if I just wait it out instead of taking the antibiotic. My ear is completely clogged to the point where I can barely hear anything out of it, it hurts badly, and the congestion and pressure are miserable. I just feel exhausted, scared, overwhelmed, and honestly trapped between being afraid of the infection getting worse and being afraid of the medication itself.

another doxycycline horror story/complaining i suppose LOL

so about march 30th i was prescribed doxycycline for a double ear infection by the ER doctor after not hearing out of my left ear for almost a month at that point (i don’t have insurance right now unfortunately so er was where i had to go) but i was prescribed 100 mg twice a day for 10 days and even after finishing and now it being as long as it’s been my stomach has NOT been the same. it’s almost comparable to first trimester some days (0 chance of being pregnant btw so that’s not a factor in this hate that it’s always no 1 question) i’m gonna try to do the whole probiotic and gut flora stuff i’ve seen others talk about and hope it makes me feel better , if not i’ll have to suck it up and go back to the ER. i’m more complaining about my interaction with doxycycline than anything but ugh is this frustrating to deal with i hate not feeling good.

Metronidazole side effects

Hi everyone!

Currently on amoxicillin and metronidazole for a bad tooth infection. I have taken amoxicillin before and been pretty ok with it, just a upset tummy during and after but nothing too bad. This is my first time having metronidazole and having a horrible time on it, which I hope is common? I understand that extreme nausea and diarrhoea are pretty common, but has anybody else felt fatigued and sleepy. I just feel ill/off- I was worried at first that it was my infection getting worse but the pain in my tooth has significantly reduced so the only other explanation would be metronidazole. Has anybody else experienced this, and what tips would they give?

Doxycycline Hyclate - Diet/Lifestyle Questions

Prescribed 100mg of Doxycycline Hyclate, twice a day, for 10 days, had some questions about diet and lifestyle that the Urgent Care doctor didn't describe to me.

1st question, I don't eat breakfast, so in the morning, I eat a few crackers with a little bit of apple sauce to ease potential stomach problems with the morning dose. Not a full meal, but this won't affect the antibiotic, correct? I'm making sure to drink 2 16oz glasses of water in the morning as well (boy do I love peeing every 30 minutes now).

2nd question, the doctor did say I would be fine drinking a beer or two while using this. On the safe side, I'm waiting 2 hours after taking the pill to have a beer or two before I go to bed, will this cause no difference in the effectiveness?

3rd question, the sun. This one is annoying, I have a fishing trip in 5 days. Doctor and the prescription said to avoid prolonged sun exposure. I'll be wearing an SPF hoodie, long pants, a fishing hat, and sunscreen on any skin left. Don't want to miss out on this lol

Thanks for the help.

amoxicilllin/clavulan acid 500/125 mg, just took my first dose and im anxious

im taking it for what im assuming is paronychia. i have to take it for 7 days 3 times a day before theyll likely perform a minor surgery on my toenail. the thing is, i have emetophobia (fear of throwing up) and ive heard bad stories about this medication. i just took my first pill about 10 minutes ago with vla (dutch dairy product, its like yogurt but sweeter and with flavour) and im just kinda scared 😞 i feel like i have a bit of stomach upset right now but it might also just be my imagination. anyone maybe have some reassurance or advice or anything? also if it matters, im 16F

I took doxycycline without water and went straight to bed :(

32F. Three nights ago I took doxycycline and went straight to bed. Big mistake. It hurts to swallow anything, even water. I have since stopped the medication.

Has anyone else gone through this? How long does it take to go away? Should I see a doctor (besides the prescribing doctor) - like a gastroenterologist or laryngologist? Or just wait? Prescribing doc did not seem concerned.

Bactrim

Not sure if I’m having a reaction to Bactrim or what it is. I take it morning and night but only ever have reactions at night. My heart rate will go from 120 to 60 in a matter of minutes, feel like I can’t complete a full yawn, sometimes breathing issues like gasping for breath randomly, dizziness, general feeling of being off. Last night I also felt like my brain was like shorting if that makes sense… I’m confused though because I never have the same symptoms when I take it during the day. Has anyone experienced any of these symptoms?

Possible mild PD - Advice for antibiotics

I’ve never really broken out but the past few months around my mouth has been intermittently inflamed and getting pimples in spots I’d never thought. It was suggested to be PD after a skin analysis/consult and I was told to go on doxycycline, didn’t say how much/how long for. I just got a prescription for 2 weeks worth at 100mg/day… I guess I just don’t really know what to do will it be fine for me to take 100g/ day then reassess after the 2 weeks? I have cut skin care out for the past month or so. I was told it is likely due to retinol overuse and this cause is becoming pretty common. After antibiotics is my skin likely to go back to normal? It’s never been sensitive or prone to breakouts. Annnny advice would help, thank you!
