My mom was visiting and locked this door which went smooth and easy. But now it won’t unlock. It will click, almost like whatever was caught slipped back into position and then just stops.
I’ve been trying to find a diagram or even a photo of the same internals, but it’s very difficult to find a matching one. This is a Russell & Erwin mortise lock and there is a 100 stamped inside. It has space for two keys, and there’s a missing toggle switch or something above the latch. I know one spring is makeshift. I just don’t know what kind of springs I need to order to replace since I don’t have a similar lock to reference. Anyone have this lock or a similar one so I can see what’s supposed to be inside?
