comecei hoje a ler be blues depois de ter acabado a um bom tempo o mangá de ao ashi. infelizmente (ou felizmente) minha régua subiu muito depois desse mangá, espero que seja tão bom quanto :o

Ao Ashi helped me understand Trent

When i read chapter 274, the chapter where Fukuda explained to Nozomi why Ashito is a Fullback. Nozomi said "if we're making use of his vision & passing, there's always the option of putting him in the middle".

I always had this notion. Why isn't Trent operating in Midfield? listening to the online Football community, it seems obvious he can't defend, & with his elite passing, Midfield seems the obvious solution...

However, as someone who's never played Football IRL, the knowledge Fukuda dropped blew my mind. To summarize, there is more to being a Midfielder than just being a good passer. You need to be adept at trapping the ball, & since you'll be pressured from all sides, your vision & split-second decision-making needs to be top-notch.

All, or some of these qualities Trent does not possess. Fullback relieves the pressure from being pressed from all sides, & needed to be aware of your surroundings at all times. It frees up players like Trent to focus on how to progress the ball forward, to get in the right positions for his ELITE deliveries in to the final third.

"Fullback are truly Free"

Side note: Trent isn't a terrible defender like how parts of the football community & some pundits make him out to be. He is not the best defender, but certainly not the worst. Unfortunately, his mistakes are just magnified, with the X-factor he brings to games being ignored.

[RECOMMEND ME] Just finished Ao Ashi, Need Something to Fill the Gap

Just finished reading Ao Ashi after watching the anime. It is perfect, perfect to the last detail. Couldn't have asked for anything more. I know for a fact, it will have a place in my mind, for as long as I live.

Need something to read that has a good plotline and Smart MC. If I don't read something powerhungry slop I don't think I'll be able move past Ao Ashi.

Looking for interest for an Aoashi season 1 rewatch in preparation for the upcoming season

Since season 2 of Aoashi's coming next October, how about a rewatch for the first season?

Synopsis:

Aoashi tells the story of young Aoi Ashito in his third year at Ehime City Middle School and his meeting with football coach Fukuda Tatsuya. Ashito, although talented, is a difficult boy, but Fukuda believes in him and invites him to join his own team. Ashito could well change the face of Japanese football.

The first season aired on April 2022 and lasted for 22 episodes, and the second season will air on 4 October. The first season is produced by Production I.G and directed by Satō Akira, with scripts written by Yokotani Masahiro, and character designs by Nakatake Manabu, Kawamura Toshie, Yamaguchi Asuka, and Hasegawa Saki, with Nakatake and Yamaguchi also serving as chief animation directors.

Stream choices:

Crunchyroll has the show outside Asia, IIRC. An English dub is also available.

Schedule:

We'll start on 6 September, which makes the rewatch end one week before the second season airs, which is on 27 September, with 28 September being a thread for the overall discussion for the first season.

As someone who hasn't gotten the chance to watch the show as it airs, I hope a rewatch like this could give a chance for those who haven't watched the series and also who wants to relive the first season can be ready for the next season coming this fall. If there are anything you want to add, please let me know.

Names of Barcelona players in Ao Ashi are hilarious

Kobayashi didn't even try to make them realistic lmao.

Starless, Obsidian - no comments.

Catboy named E. Gato (as in "el gato").

Someone named Xhaka. Ngl, he's a bit too dark-skinned for Albanian.

Suzak Quarich. Forget the fact that no Eastern European country has names like this - why does he have the same last name as the main villain of Avatar?

And my favorite bit - two players, for some reason named after F1 drivers, Ascari and Pedro Diniz.

Did Fukuda play in World Cups?

I'm anime only so I wonder if Fukuda ever talked about it. If I'm not mistaken with timeline he could play in WC 2002 (unless he was too young at that time) and/or WC 2006 (unless he was already injured).
