My fellow Americans,

I stand before you today not to ask for your vote, not to sell you a policy, and not to tell you that your neighbor is your enemy. I stand before you to ask a question that has been haunting the quiet corners of our homes and the deep recesses of our hearts:

When did we forget who we are?

We have all felt it—the anger, the fatigue, the sense that something sacred has been lost.

Look around. We are living in a time of great noise. The screens in our pockets scream for our attention. The news cycles trade in outrage. We are told, hour after hour, that the person across the street, the person across the aisle, the person across the state line is not just wrong, but evil. We are being sold a narrative of catastrophe, a story that says America is ending, that hope is dead, and that the only way to survive is to destroy one another.
But I am here to tell you that is a lie. And it is time to wake up.

We have been sleepwalking into a nightmare of division. We have allowed algorithms to curate our reality, feeding us only what makes us angry, hiding the humanity of those we disagree with. We scroll past suffering like it is background noise, and we mistake outrage for purpose. We have retreated into bunkers of "us" versus "them."

But ask yourself this: When a storm tears the roof off a house in Florida, does the volunteer who rushes in with water check the homeowner's voting record? No. When a child goes missing in a neighborhood in Ohio, does the search party stop to argue about tax codes? No. We remember how, on the morning of September 12th, 2001, strangers held each other in the streets, united not by politics, but by shared grief and resolve.

In the moments that truly matter—in the face of disaster, in the joy of a wedding, in the grief of a funeral, in the stands of a high school football game—we are not Red Americans or Blue Americans. We are just Americans. We are humans, doing our best to survive and thrive on this shared patch of earth.

To awaken is to realize that our diversity is not our destruction; it is our design.

"E Pluribus Unum." Out of many, one. That is not just a motto on a coin; it is a challenge. It is the hardest thing a nation can try to do. It is easy to live only among those who look like you and think like you. It is hard to build a democracy with people who see the world differently.

But we do hard things. That is our heritage.

To unite this country, we do not need to agree on everything. That is impossible, and frankly, it would be boring.

To unite this country, we must agree on one thing: That our shared liberty is more important than our individual victory.

We must realize that hate is a poison we drink expecting the other person to die. We must realize that calling names is not debate, and silencing others is not strength.

So, what do we do? How do we fix this?

It starts the moment you leave this room. It starts when you refuse to let the media bait you into hating your brother. It starts when you see a post online that makes your blood boil, and instead of typing a furious comment, you close your eyes, take a breath, and remember that there is a human being on the other side of that screen.

It starts by listening—not to win an argument, but to understand a fear.

It starts with one act of grace. Then another. Then another. Until the tide turns.

We are the heirs to a magnificent experiment. But the experiment is fragile. It requires maintenance. It requires grace. It requires us to forgive each other for the things we said when we were angry, and to offer a hand even when it is trembling.

The dawn is coming. I can see it. I see it in the tired parents working two jobs who still coach Little League. I see it in the churches and mosques and synagogues that run food pantries together. I see it in the young people who are refusing to inherit our prejudices.

Let us wake up from the nightmare of division. Let us clear our eyes. Let us look at one another not as enemies to be defeated, but as partners in the greatest project of freedom the world has ever known.

We are one people. We are one family. And it is time we started acting like it.

If we can do that—if we can remember who we are—then the American story is not ending. It is beginning again.

Our union belongs to every worker. Whether you've been with Apex since the beginning or you've only recently joined our ranks, your voice matters, and your participation helps build the kind of union we all deserve.
