Line weight of wall core should be thick, while the finish should be thin.

Hi, Im an architecture student who is trying to get into UI/UX and product design and management, and I'm really interested in the design and engineering software industry. Im trying to study how people learn and use software, specicifcally AutoCAD. If anyone can answer this survey, that would be super helpful to me! This is open to anyone who uses AutoCAD. Students, professionals, or even if you're just exploring!
Here is the survey:

Native macOS PDF editor I've been working on, built for users who routinely open 100–300 MB CAD/BIM exports.
Video is 1:1 — same Mac (MacBook m4 pro), same file, same moment. No edits.
Why I'm posting in here: the Mac build shipped today, Apple-signed + notarized, and you're the audience that actually notices when an app feels native.
Things this thing focuses on:
- Stays responsive on 200 MB files (pinch zoom + scroll don't stutter)
- Quick Look–style fast opening, even for 200+ page documents
- Native window controls, native file dialogs, native fonts
- Crash-safety: if it ever crashes mid-edit, your work is recovered on next open
- Memory footprint stays bounded on long sessions
Features: inline text editing, annotations + signatures (with verification), full-document search incl. text inside scanned images, page management, redaction, flatten, image export, auto-save + crash recovery.
What it isn't: a 200-feature Acrobat clone — we cut a lot deliberately.
Pricing:
- 14-day free trial, no card
- €12.99/month or €79.99/year (≈49% less than monthly). No tiers, no upsells.
Disclosure: I'm one of the makers (the team behind Noir Architects, a Baltic architecture studio that built this for our own daily work first). Honest feedback welcome, especially the rough edges.

Hi! I have a .pln file that won't open. It's from a backup because I deleted the original project from my desktop and emptied the Recycle Bin. Unfortunately, this is the only thing I was able to recover. Is there any chance someone could try to open it?
Hey, 1st post here , trying to create an object based in some files that had in 3D dw g and wanted to set some parameters. Like extend in length and height. Is there any easy way to do this?
Hello I study architecture and need a laptop to use archicad or allplan.
Can you guys recommend anything, my budget is around 1000€
I am trying to Build a roof like this in Archicad i tried with rhino and morphs but the Problem is then I cant use windows. So maybe any Ideas how I can modell this roof in archicad so I can use windows ?
We are addressing our company templates, and there is division as to whether to use the National CAD Standard. It seems the division is mostly between young and old. The younger folks don’t think it’s as applicable with BIM technology, and the older folks think the standards reign supreme. What sayeth ye?
Hello! May I ask for all of your opinions on my new plan? The apartment itself is really small so I don't know if it looks good </3

I'm exploring the idea of building an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that connects Archicad's JSON Interface API with Claude AI for automated workflows.

I'm a practicing architect (mostly renovation/heritage work in Germany) and comfortable with scripting, but wanted to gauge interest before diving into development. Would appreciate any thoughts, existing solutions, or "here's why this won't work" reality checks.
Hey guys, so I tried basically everything while importing a 3d city model but no matter what file type I used (dxf, ifc, stl) The geometry is always weird and full of these smaller lines.
The only format that seems to work is .obj but when importing an obj, I cant delete any of the building and when I convert it to a Morph it ends up looking like this again.
Any help on this matter would be much apreciated.

Take a look at the only column I'm proyecting on the plans.
I am remodeling my family house alongside my dad and before we propose anything to the engineers, we want to develop a couple of ideas. About what we would like to do. That column was hidden on a wall untill we discovered it yesterday. We already had the whole concept of the (semi) open kitchen settled but as you can see, now that's not entirely possible. We wanted some folding doors so that we would be able to "hide" the kitchen in case the maid was cooking and we had people over... but we also want the open kitchen concept in case friends come over to cook dinner or anything and make it look more spacious. Because the ceiling is double-height so... if we separate the spaces with entire walls it looks much narrower or tighter...
We had a bunch of different approaches but non feel right... like changing the structure completely, adding some support to the beam onto other columns, and then removing the column, we've obviously thought not doing an open concept but I personally hate that idea because of the height thing, we've thought about hiding the column by just adding some arches in between the 3 total columns....

As of yesterday, every time I try to open AC27 or AC29, the program crashes before it boots up, and the bug report dialogue appears immediately. I’ve been using AC27 for years without issue and recently started using AC29 on some projects. My issue seemed to start occurring after I purchased another cloud license and upgraded my Dropbox, but not sure if these are related.
My issue:
- Archicad (perpetual and subscription) crashes instantly upon attempting to open
My setup:
- Perpetual license (Archicad 29 USA Commercial Single License), and my Forward/SSA is up to date
- MacBookPro with M1Pro chip, 32GB RAM
- macOS is Sequoia 15.7.4
- AC27 USA 3001 for Apple Silicon
- AC29 USA 4006 for Apple Silicon
I have tried the following:
- Upload and download the perpetual license via License Manager Tool. Graphisoft portal also shows that the software license is correctly assigned to me.
- Open the AC27 and AC29 applications in Macintosh HD/Applications/Graphisoft
- Select PLN files, right click and Open With AC27 and AC29
- Restart computer
- Uninstall/Reinstall AC27
- Re-assign the perpetual/software license to Administrator, re-assign to me again (on Graphisoft ID portal)
- Re-assign the cloud license to me (on Graphisoft ID portal)
Thanks in advance!
Anyone have crazy lag typing in a text tool's box? Mine will be fine and the it's slow. Then goes normal. it happens on our other workstation too.
I thought it was our NAS doing a backup or something but it's not that.
First, I'd like to apologize if this is not the right place to look for a solution to my problem — I'm new here.
The issue I'm having is the following: when I have two or more instances of Archicad open along with any web browser, the Archicad interface lags — the toolbars and palettes flicker as seen in the video and it takes a long time to respond. This gets worse if I have projects open. Archicad responds normally if I close the web browser I'm using, but this is a problem when I'm in a meeting.
I have tried several browsers — Google Chrome, Edge, Mozilla, and Brave — and the issue persists. It also happens across multiple versions of Archicad: 26, 27, 28, and currently 29.
The PC I work on has the following specs: Windows 11 Pro Intel i7-10700K Nvidia RTX 3070 32 GB RAM 3600 MT/s
Archicad is installed on an NVMe SSD and I save my files on a separate SSD.
All drivers are up to date, as are the Archicad versions
Hi
Following question:
I have modelled a second floor wooden outside deck, or balcony, or terrace or whatever, using beams and pillars. They all have different lengths, dimensions heights, etc. Now I obviously need to know how much wood of what dimension I am going to need to build it. I am fairly certain Archicad can just tell me, but I don't know how / what tool I need.
I have used the program in my education for about 10 years now, but unfortunately the topic of getting material quantities of the model never came up.
I don't need full instructions, I am happy to google them myself, but up to now whatever I tried to google didn't come up very helpful.
Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
