Discussion - should the game be designed to track which enclosure houses which animal?

Have played arknova on BGA for awhile now, and yet I'm still quite often runing into issues with flocking/releasing animals as I find it super counter-intuitive (yes, this is mostly user error on my part).

However, I can't help but feel that the game would be much more logical if it tracked and was designed around which enclosure an animal is played into. Biggest of my gripes about how the game works is, if I play animal X into enclosure A, I expect to be able to release it from enclosure A, instead of being forced to release it from enclosure B.

Similarly, if play a Herbivore A into a size 5 enclosure, I expect to be able to use Flocking 1/2/3/4/5, regardless of the size of Herbivore A.

Keen to hear community thoughts on this as I can't be the only one tripped up by these rules!

What does this bonus tile placement icon mean?

Does it mean take the action that is currently at level 1? Is this the action before or after taking the build action? Thank you so much in advance 🙏

Why can't I take a zoo here?

Is this a bug or am I just not clear on some rule? I used the Association action to take my second partner zoo, triggering a card upgrade to flip Association. That was earlier this same break, but a separate action.

Now on a different turn, I played animals, used hypnosis to steal my opponent's Association action, spent X tokens to play it at level 5, did a conservation project, and crossed the threshold to get a bonus, which I wanted to use for a partner zoo, but it won't let me.

Is it because HIS Association action is only level 1? Surely that can't be right... it's my map, and the zoo bonus is getting triggered by CP gain not directly by the Association card.

Maxed Out Appeal AND Conservation

A buddy and I play at work and have maxed out one track on a handful of occasions. This is the first time we've done both in a single game!

How did my opponent get Shark Attack here?

Edit: With an archaeologist is the answer.

What am I missing here please? My opponent on BGA got a turn 3 Shark Attack on Lagoon on the same turn as they got a 5 money building placement bonus for a size-2 enclosure, and without covering either of the shark attack spots (which are still open).

Something cute for the game

I ordered the Big Box 3D edition (can't wait for it to come!!) and realised that without the flipping, it'll be hard to tell what's in what. Add to the fact that it's 3D, the enclosures could actually enclose something. I have a bunch of mini-figs and those Good Luck Minis from Safari LTD that are just sitting in a box. What if I could put them into the zoo?

I tested out this theory twice: one where I just put whatever and one where I only played animals that I have figs for.

The results: very cute! I still need so much more, but from what I've played, it can be done! I still had to use some substitutions and relied heavily on sponsor cards as I couldn't play many animals, but what I could play was still fun.

I highly recommend this to anyone who has mini figs and wants more whimsy in their game.

Can't wait to actually implement this when the 3D comes!

First time not playing conservation until late

I don't know if I would've gotten destroyed by a high level player, but i just kept not getting cards to add to conservation so I just doubled down. I crossed 100 at only 8 CP
