I am so torn. I love the look but I’m scared that it’s too expensive.

VERRUCOSUM TIPS WANTES

Hey everyone! My dream plant finally arrived FRESH in the mail. I got a Verrucosum Cobra and a Verrucosum Dark Melon? I also ordered an Amazon sunset from Ecuagenera. Hope it works out for me !

I have milsbo and rudsta cabinets but I do not wanna screw up this plant. Does anyone have ANY tips whatsoever about Verrucosum? I'll take anything. What to do to acclimate from shipping, when to put it on a pole, etc!! I got some help with my first anthurium and it boomed so I love the advice.

New leaf or the beginning of a spathe?

Everyone wants to think their plant is doing something cool and I'm already excited because I had my first keiki appear a couple weeks ago. It's hard to believe that I could have an orchid produce a keiki AND a pothos produce a spathe in such a short period of time.

Monstera Esqueleto: 77 cm long leaf [No Growtent]

I wanted to share the latest leaf on my Monstera Esqueleto because the size jump has been pretty serious for a plant growing in normal living room conditions.

This is Leaf No. 26, currently measuring 77 cm long × 47 cm wide. It is still hardening and still a little floppy, so the final structure is not fully set yet, but it has already passed the previous leaf quite clearly.

Leaf No. 25 hardened at around 64 cm long, so this new one is about 13 cm longer, roughly a 20% increase in length from the previous leaf.

Specimen info
Plant: Monstera Esqueleto
Age: 2 years, 17 days
Leaf: No. 26, in my care
Humidity: around 50% RH
Temperature: 19 to 24 °C
Substrate: Soil Ninja Semi Hydro Coarse
Support: Moss pole
Feed: Aroid Iron Enhanced Feed V2

The plant is grown in ambient room conditions rather than a cabinet or grow tent. Humidity sits around 50% most of the time, temperatures range from 19 to 24 °C, and the plant is climbing on a moss pole in a coarse semi-hydroponic mineral substrate.

The feed is a custom aroid formula mixed for RODI water, with the pH targeted around 5.7 to 5.8 and EC around 1.4 mS/cm. The main focus is balanced nitrogen and potassium for active growth, extra iron for strong green tissue, and enough calcium and magnesium to support proper leaf expansion and structure.

It also includes a small amount of silicon and root support, mainly to keep growth steady rather than forcing the plant too hard. The goal has been consistent uptake, clean semi-hydro growth, and stable sizing-up over time.

I am hoping to eventually get this plant towards 1 metre leaves, so Leaf 26 feels like a promising step in that direction.

Curious how this compares with other people’s Esqueleto growth in normal home conditions, especially outside cabinets or tents.

New lighting from Rousseau

I got a new track light and wow it is BRIGHT!!

I was debating between Soltech, Barrina and this one from Rousseau Plant Care. Rousseau had a better warranty and adjustable beam angles on top of being cheaper. I couldn’t be happier and I’m excited to see my growth increase!

Also, at this time I only have one light on the track but you can have up to 5! It is mounted 4 feet from the wall. I will be purchasing more lights in the future once I get my custom shelving built. Which of course I will also share in the future!

Negative ~ (but not really) for me and my space this track had to be mounted to studs as these lights are fairly heavy, to prevent falling and damage to my ceiling, or plants! The provided sheetrock anchors would not have been sufficient for my plaster and lathe ceiling. Due to the spacing of the pre drilled holes in the track, and the not to-code stud spacing in my ceiling .lol. I had to drill an extra hole in the track and purchase longer screws to safely secure it. This is not the companies fault, I just live in an old house.

Bringing the inside out…

Wanting to move many of my 100+ plants outside for the summer so they can get some real sunshine, water sourced from somewhere other than a tap, and a more natural environment. Obviously i know the real sun is totally different than indoor ambient light and grow lights, so I’m wondering what plants you put where. Anything you put in actual full sun? What do you put in the spots that stay shady? In between? Trying to map out my deck. Thoughts and photos of your setup welcome!

Silver Dragon Help

I recently picked up a Silver Dragon that was in decent health and even had a fresh leaf, but leaves were droopy and the ends were crispy. I trimmed the crispy ends and repotted it because it was in dense soil that was hydrophobic. After repotting I was expecting her to go into shock, but she actually perked up and looked really happy the following day. Then I made the mistake of taking her out of the pot when I realized there was pieces of bark that were blocking the corners at the bottom of the naked root planter, and I feared that the water wasn’t making its way to the roots because of it so I lifted her out of the pot just to push the bark and soil down into the corners more and then I put her back. I did not mess with her roots at all. The following day all of her leaves started drooping over and I figured I put her into shock. Now it’s been three days and the first set of pictures is what she looks like. All of the leaves except for one are slowly deteriorating. The last two pictures are of the one leaf that has not started dying (yet?😭)

Please tell me if she’s a lost cause, or if she will bounce back from this.
Should I trim off the leaves that are slowly dying and just leave the one that looks healthy still?
The only other alocasia I own is a regal shield, which I know is one of the easiest and forgiving alocasias, and I’ve never experienced a plant going into shock until now! Help me save her please 🙏🏼😭

Mini monstera does what it wants

I hung a piece of cork bark on the wall to give it something to grab on to for support. It did that, but also decided that it wants to anchor on the crown molding.

It might look like it's barely hanging on, but it's got some sort of magic, bc I can shake the stem and that anchor point is secure.

Not mad at it, but also not too sure where it's going to go from here. Hoping it decides to follow the crown around the room.

Alocasia Dragon Scale and Odora Hybrids update!

They are all really waking up from winter and vigorously growing, a couple set backs from some strategic repots, but now everything's got room to do their best this summer.
