How difficult is getting TI position in ADB

I’ve been working in international organisation for more than 5 years in the Asia and pacific region. I’m infrastructure background but my actually job is always partnership and communication and sometimes project management. I am jack of all trades but master of none.

But when I look at ADB job announcements, I only see a thematic area specialists. I wanted to check if there is any chances of person with my background to get selected in the ADB. I’d be super grateful for your support and guidance based on your experience and wisdom!

Readvertisement for positions

Hi insiders,

Wondering what are some of the reasons why positions are readvertised? Not enough applicants, could not find suitable candidates? The usual reasons seem almost too good to be true when you see how sought after these jobs are (especially for TI1/TI2s) incl. competition from internal candidates.

Interested to hear your perspectives and experiences on readvertisements. Hoping its not a red flag per se..i.e., no one wants to work for the said team/dept.

Thanks!

Senior System Analyst

Hi! Anyone here has the same role? I just want to ask for few tips on what would be the questions on the second interview? I’m done with the first phase which was to solve a case study wherein I presented the output. The next day I was scheduled for the second interview which I believe the final phase. Any tips on how to ace it? 😅 and what to expect?
Also I am from a third party so is the hiring process differs from the direct hire?

Odd post

Browsing ADB's Facebook page to know more about their programs and job vacancies and I came across this random post.

I found it odd for them to feature their own communication people.

Is this a Filipino thing where social media handlers turn institutional accounts into something of their own? Should

I anticipate questions like this about making ADB's social media more home-like feeling when apply for a Comms position?

I just found it so odd.

Done - Panel Interview

I was interviewed recently for the 2nd time ( so I guess thats the final phase ). To give context, I applied one time and after few weeks got emailed to do the exam. And then the Initial Interview where 4 people were present. Then waiting game again and I assume I did not meet their requirement and I moved on knowing I failed the interview. After few weeks got an email again telling me to prepare a presentation pptx and will do panel interview again. So I manage to respond accordingly their question. I got the same face reaction and approach from the first interview.

What I want to know is that did they really react like that? LOL. I don't feel anythin because the interview was done in less that an hour and the Hiring manager did not any ask questions like technical questions, the independent panels - 2 ask only 3-4 questions then thats it. And we bid goodbye then told me to wait for 2-3 weeks for the result.

I was just wondering did I suffice their question properly or they just don't want me LOL. I don't know I am overthinking right now because I feel that the responses I provide was not enough hahaha. Well, for me the reason I overthink too much is that I don't want to waste that opportunity but it is what it is. I dont want to overshare and go beyond what the questions really and solely asked.

First time to apply and got call within weeks or a month. This is TL4 Staff. Exam was Online, first interview was video conference, 2nd interview was Face to Face. Status of my application was still under "Screening" as of today. LoL

I just want to know or your thoughts what could go wrong and what I can expect. It so sad if I did not answer correctly so I might not get hired. You know, as by reading here and check with others, it was very hard at least to get shortlisted, so here I am wasting the opportunity if I failed to respond well with the interview. Overthinker here 🥹

Anyone got offer after they thought they bombed the panel Interview and ppt

I left mine feeling like it went terribly, but I'm wondering should I still keep any hope. I like to hear any success stories from people who were sure they had blown it and ended up getting an offer.

How long it took for the decision?
