Can Asriel Knight still make sense after chapter 5?

Can Asriel Knight still make sense after chapter 5?

I've subscribed to Asriel Knight theory before chapter 5, still go for Asriel Knight because of the previous evidence before chapter 5,

but given what happened in chapter 5, can asriel knight still be relevant? After all, rudy fell down and carol had things to solve in the bunker, and also had to deal with rudy's falling down... And then the knight only appeared at the end of chapter... Which could be easily explained if either carol or rudy are the knight, after all they were busy, so it could explain the knight being late.

Carol Knight would then make the most sense if we go by this evidence alone, since she was busy with taking care of rudy and going to the bunker, but it's so obvious and predictable that, given how unpredictable deltarune has been, I can't truly believe toby would make a mistery so predictable

The explanation I can think of for Asriel, would be that Asriel waited until the festival was gone, so that he could walk around town without being discovered. And it could explain why Asriel didn't show up for the festival.(he'd technically have shown up, but as the knight without anyone knowing that)

Calendars imply Asriel has been on vacation since Ch1

In chapter 2, “college summer vacation when” calendar has the first day of the month highlighted. Later in that chapter in Noelle’s room in Queen’s castle, we see a calendar with the first two days crossed off. In chapter 4, the calendar in the church shows 3 days crossed off. This implies that Asriel started his summer vacation on the first day, in chapter 1.

Quick thoughts on ch5

I enjoyed it immensely, but I just feel like having a few more main story beats would've made it feel a little more significant?

It feels like most of the mysteries are like a domino. Explain one, and the rest would be explained too. Doesn't change the fact that being a little more concrete with "the tragedy", maybe a less open-ended conclusion to the forgotten man storyline ,would've felt more satisfying too.

Pluses for me include; We got confirmation that ralsei knows a lot, dess disappeared due to a past dark world that is somewhat connected to a dark river of tears which formed the shadow crystals, and is made up of lost dreams(happy to hear this as an avid asrielknighter.)

The secret boss felt so out of place (despite being very fun, aside from that fuck-ass bomb attack).

Gameplay wise, it's top notch tho.

I'm a chapter 3 defender, so my ranking goes 4>3>2>5>1

Don’t Forget: Avoid spoiling Chapter 5!

Chapter 5 is just one day away as of the time of this post! Be sure to read through the subreddit rules if you decide to post, and REMEMBER to censor them if you talk about any spoiler content.

As much as we’re all excited and want to see the Knight’s identity, we also want to experience it blind for ourselves. So remember to be cautious of how you present your posts for everyone’s sake.

With that being said, enjoy the new Deltarune adventure! He’s as-REAL as it gets!

2 days left. Your best friend is on his way.

Probably the best Knight scene in the game, as the ‘Your Best Nightmare’ motif plays. The inevitable dark truth will only make it more impactful looking back.

See you soon.

My limited analysis of the mainstream Knight theories, ranked by my perceived likelihood of being true.

Theories in the same category are regarded as fairly equal

Very likely:

- Asriel Knight: Following Deltarune as a parallel story to Undertale. Has means, method, motive, the potential strength to wrestle Undyne, and a lack of proper counterevidence. Plus, he’s likely quite tall. The reason I typed this here.

- Dess Knight: Unfalsifiable wildcard that isn’t disqualified because of that. However, the opportunities are immense, and, due to how little we know, you can make up almost anything to explain the Lost Girl theme. Plus, it lines up most with the Knight’s body shape.

Moderately likely:

- Rudy Knight: Explains his odd behavior. He has means, method, and motive. Only issues are the Chapter 2 closet and him likely lacking the strength to wrestle Undyne

Slim chance:

- Carol Knight: Likely a red herring, but she has the means, method, and motive. Main issues are the Mansion-to-church logistics, and, again, Undyne.

- Papyrus Knight: I genuinely cannot see any version of Papyrus being the Knight. He’s just too based. Only merit I think it has is lining up with the Knight’s body shape.

That’s all I feel like mentioning. Thank you for reading.

TL;DR: (Asriel, Dess), (Rudy), (Carol, Papyrus).
