Shinobi II power & Sony A7 IV control setup

Hello Atomos Support,

I am planning to use the Shinobi II with the following setup:
Camera: Sony A7 IV
Battery: SmallRig VB99 Pro V-Mount battery

I would like to confirm several real-world usage scenarios before purchase:

  1. Camera control + monitoring
Does Shinobi II fully support simultaneous:
  • HDMI monitoring
  • USB-C camera control (record start/stop, touch focus, settings control) for Sony A7 IV?
  1. Powering the monitor (Battery Eliminator)
If I use the Atomos Battery Eliminator Stand:
  • Can Shinobi II be powered via V-Mount battery (VB99 Pro) using a D-Tap to DC Lock cable?
  • Is this a recommended and stable configuration for extended recording sessions?
  1. Powering camera through the monitor
Is it supported to power the Sony A7 IV via USB-C PD from Shinobi II while simultaneously maintaining HDMI monitoring and USB-C camera control?

  2. Combined full setup validation
Is the following full configuration safe and officially supported:
VB99 Pro → Battery Eliminator → Shinobi II → Sony A7 IV (USB-C power + control) while also using HDMI for video signal?

  3. Safety / limitations
Are there any known limitations regarding:

  • overheating of Shinobi II
  • USB-C power load stability
  • long continuous recording reliability in this configuration?

Additionally, I would appreciate any recommendations regarding monitor usability in strong direct sunlight conditions (summer in North Carolina).

I am planning to use a sun hood solution, such as a SmallRig monitor cage with sunshade for Shinobi II, but I am also open to official Atomos recommendations for improving visibility and thermal stability in outdoor shooting environments.

Thank you in advance for clarification.
