The publisher looked at it on her phone and had trouble making heads or tails of what is even pictured here; I've been staring at it for weeks so I could really use some perspective! What sort of story would you guess this to be? What genre? What setting? Can you even figure out what is in the image?!
Hey all! I was just wondering what you all used for working on audiobook covers. I've got a pretty nice setup going, but am open to alternatives and new tools. Here's what I use:
Affinity (Free, Requires Canva Account)- For general image editing, fonts, etc.
Google Gemini (Freemium) - For edits that take way too much time and effort in Affinity
Topaz Photo Pro (Paid, Pricey) - For more detailed image up-scaling and de-noising, excellent results
Upscayl (Free) - For image up-scaling, usually has decent results on less powerful hardware. Little control with OK results
Caesium (Free) - For Bulk Image compression. RAW files can be 15-50MB, compresses them with minimal quality loss.
Audible Cover Grabber (Free)- Firefox extension to download full res Audible covers (usually 2400x2400)
iTunes Artwork Finder (Free) - By Ben Dodson, to download full res iTunes covers (upwards of 3000x3000)
Font Matcherator (Freemium) - Identify similar fonts
I would love to hear about other people's tools. More tools means more capability!
I started cleaning the official Ryan Gosling cover for Project Hail Mary. I found the missing corner here and integrated it almost fully. Unfortunately, my Photoshop skills are limited. Does anyone know what needs to be done to complete the edit? I plan to take down this post and post the finished version when done.

Made my own version of a parade of horribles using no ai because the ones on here already messed with the texture of the Rat's nest, or messed up the rat's face, or messed up the unicorn's face.
used the highest res version of the audible cover as the base, then erased the audible banner and edited in the rat and it's nest from the highest resolution version of the regular paperback cover art i could find and had to do some stealth modifications to the nest and gun to make everything line up properly. not perfect, but I tried my best.
Idk if reddit resizes images but the version i have is 2400x2400, if reddit butchers it then I'll try and find a hosting site
