Do Yall pull up for Austin FC 2 games as well 👀?

My dad (who doesn’t live here) has been wanting me to go check out the second division games and I’m curious to know if anyone actually goes? I’d have to assume so since it seems like there’s a lot of regulars at the first division games

Paul Pogba is a free agent

Throwing this out there just in case the scouts are getting tips from Reddit.

A real playmaker midfielder that can advance the ball through the middle and connect our offense when we transition forward. Only 33 years old.

So is this inverted winger thing worth continuing?

I haven't played/watched enough soccer to really appreciate all the finer points involved but there has been a lot of discussion so I'm curious what others think.

Results have not been positive but they were not positive before either. Some, like Doyle, have been negative about it but we're justhis current whipping boy anyway.

I guess the real question is really just whether this is the best choice for the players we have available. Our roster is not terrible but our players are just a random group assembled by Rodo throwing darts for 2 years which is our main problem.

To my eye it does seem that opponents are just clogging the middle and daring us to come back inside. I do think our mindset has been more attacking which has been encouraging.

So is this the best use of the tools at our disposal?

Trying to get consistent free pickup soccer going across Austin — which fields actually work on weeknights?

Pickup soccer here is scattered. There’s stuff happening, but it’s one field, one time, and if you can’t make Tuesday at 7 you’re out for the week. I wanted something more flexible — games a few times a week, different parts of town, free, and fine with people who aren’t great.

So I’ve started an Austin pickup soccer group where anyone can post a game: field, time, and who’s actually confirmed coming. If Zilker doesn’t work for you, someone’s playing north that week. Upfront: it’s on an app called Hadu, which I work on. Flagging that so nobody feels sold to — it’s free, and honestly the group’s only useful if actual people use it.

What I’d like from this sub: which fields are genuinely open for weeknight pickup? I keep hearing conflicting things about permits and lights. And if you already run a game, I’d rather send people to yours than compete with it — happy to list it.
Who plays, and where?

Austin FC II Away Game against North Texas FC

I am planning to go to my first Austin FC II game tomorrow in Mansfield since I'm in the area. Thought it be good place to lick my wounds after Dallas. Anyone else going? Anyone know where to sit as an away fan if it matters?

Leagues Cup Semi Scheduled Tues 9/1 or Wed 9/2, Final/3rd Place Scheduled Sun 9/6

Not to get ahead of things, but uh, how's that gonna work if Austin makes the final with the San Jose game on Sat 9/5?

Austin FC II breaks record for most points in a single MLS Next Pro season

Austin FC II breaks record for most points in a single MLS Next Pro season. This is all while pulling players like Alastuey and Torres up to play for the main team.

The team still has 6 matches left in the regular season.

'There's a lot for us to manage': Given Austin FC's 1-6-1 form in MLS play, were those three Leagues Cup matches just a mirage?

I'll give you an excerpt of the section about Jayden Nelson (though contrast this with what Davy Arnaud said at the post-match press conference, which is a little higher up in the article:

Nelson — one of only a few players making himself available to media after the match — shared plenty about his season so far, including the frustration of struggling with injuries prior to his selection to Canada's World Cup squad.

"I was dealing with issues with my body I never experienced before," he explained. "Now that I feel healthy, I'm ready to go. It's obviously hard to get into the squad right now with guys playing well, but I want to play really bad. So I'll say the ambition I got from the World Cup, knowing that I want more, knowing I can play with the best players in the world, I want to come back to Austin to really show that to the fans."

Of the episode in Houston, in which Arnaud reversed his decision to put Nelson into the match because he determined Nelson didn't have the "right mindset," Nelson attributes that to a misunderstanding that's since been resolved.

"It was a pretty bad loss, and I'm coming off a World Cup, wanting to play, wanting to change the game," he recalled. "And I felt like coming on the 80th minute, I'm not able to do anything, and it was kind of a miscommunication as well on the bench, and that's all it was. It wasn't anything serious. I've seen a lot of things on Twitter and whatnot, but it's nothing to that."

His late entry into the match on Sunday was the subject of additional social media activity, though, with Soccerwise podcast host David Gass commenting, "If Austin isn’t gonna play Jayden Nelson, there’s like half a dozen MLS sides that could use him."

Nelson looked lively in his eight minutes (plus 10 minutes of stoppage time) on the field, but wasn't able to help his teammates on their quest for an equalizer that would have pumped the brakes on their declining league form. I asked him what the difference has been between the good Leagues Cup performances and the struggles against Western Conference foes, and his answer was telling.

"It's just different teams," he said. "Dallas had a lot of time to analyze us and know what we do. And to be honest, we do the same thing every single game. Like, that's Austin ... so it's gonna be difficult going to games, because teams know what we're gonna do. But I think we have a good group around us to adapt to that. And that's all it is. It's just a different type of league that we're playing. And it's a whole different atmosphere. You'll see ... it's gonna come."

Devastated

First loss in purple, ugh the MLS season needs to be over already and just focus on the Leagues Cup against them Mexican clubs. Just to think Austin got all the way to the final of the Lamar Hunt last season and we don't even have that this time around. Yet silverware hopes never die. 💜💚

So what was the mystery reveal?

They kept hyping something… was it just the new kits, which they already revealed? Was it Shane Gillis? The purple margs?

What’s your All-Time XI?

With Uzuni becoming our 2nd all time goal scorer in club history i got to thinking of who would make it into my all-time xi and 7-man bench. This is based off of a mix of things, stats and overall performances as a day one native austin fc fan. let me know what yall think. VHLM💚🖤

Bench:
GK - Andrew Tarbell (No real good option behind STUUUU)
RB - Nick Lima (consistency)
CB - Brendan Hines-Ike (Will undoubtedly make it into the XI after this season is over)
CM - Ilie Sanchez (thought age would be a factor but on his day theres no one better than him at what he does)
CM - Dani Pereira (Left a lot to desire now thats he has left)
RW - Jader Obrian (best player of a down season)
ST- Maxi Urruti (Work horse up top)

Is today another violet game?

Was wondering if the violet jerseys would be used for the rest of the leagues cup 👀
If so are we trying to go full violet this time?
