Need a bit of guidance on creating a song!

Hello! It's as the title suggests. I have a couple of songs that I'm ready to produce, but there's so much to consider, and I lack music theory knowledge, so I'm quickly becoming overwhelmed. I have a main melody; I know what key I'm in, but I really don't know where to go from there. If you have any pointers or a musical process you swear by, those tips are very appreciated :D

Does Anyone Else Prefer Creating Alone?

I’m probably looking for something a little unconventional.
I’m not looking to start a band or collaborate on songs. In fact, I generally prefer creating alone. Most of the music in my head is something I need to work through by myself, and I’ve learned that’s how I do my best work.

That said, I’d love to meet other musicians who are wired the same way.

Genre doesn’t matter. Skill level doesn’t matter. Whether you’re into indie, metal, electronic, jazz, ambient, or country I don’t really care. I’m more interested in meeting people who enjoy talking about music, gear, songwriting, production, or the creative process without feeling like every conversation has to end with “we should jam.”

Maybe it’s coffee. Maybe it’s talking shop. Maybe it’s sharing finished tracks every once in a while. Maybe it’s nothing more than knowing there are other musicians in Austin who understand that creating alone doesn’t mean you want to be isolated.

If any of that resonates with you, I’d love to connect.

Lana Del Rey cover band?

Anyone interested in starting a Lana Del Rey cover band? I'm a vocalist (m), and we'd honestly kill it 😁. I can hit those notes and more...

Gigs eventually, but testing the waters first. Let me know! DM open!

How to meet musicians for low stakes jams/cooperation?

So I love playing music and feel most comfortable in cooperative musical settings, ones where there’s a shared vision but each individual musician still has their input and talents.

I was in a band for 4 years and had to leave for health reasons, ones that I’m still kind of wrestling with. I feel like a lot of musicians I see posting online are looking for immediate music world domination, and that’s not where I’m at right now. I’d love to jam, write, perform, but I’m not looking to immediately jump headfirst into trying to make a career of music again, at least not with just anyone. I’d be open to it, of course, if it felt right, but I feel like every time I am invited by a stranger to jam it’s “ok learn these songs I wrote” not “let’s create stuff”.

Anyways lol, does anyone know how to connect with musicians who aren’t trying to push for immediate success? Ones who are just open minded and want to jam? I play electric guitar, mostly experimental post punky grungey stuff, if that makes a difference.

ISO space for album listening party in ATX

Hey Austin creatives! I’m a creative director working with Austin artist, heartbreakP on the release of his upcoming album. (@heartbreakp_ on insta)
We’re trying to find a house, backyard, studio, or creative space to host a listening party on July 11th, 2026 with a guest list of 30-40 people, for friends, artists, and collaborators to support and experience the album personally.
We’re working with a small independent budget, so we’re reaching out to the community to hopefully see if anyone who loves to support local artists and music might be willing to help us make it happen!
We'd be respectful of the space, keep things organized, and clean up afterward.

Any leads are appreciated. Thanks y'all!

Indie rock duo looking to book shows/meet musicians

Hey there, we’re Daylighting— two guys who write + record jazzy/folky indie rock here in Houston. After a few months of jamming/writing/recording, we just released an EP called “Just to Hear You Sing” (https://daylighting.bandcamp.com/album/just-to-hear-you-sing) and are looking get more involved in the scene here — play shows, meet fellow musicians, etc.

We’re looking to play some shows this summer/fall + add another musician or two (or more?) to fill out our sound for said live performances. A fellow multi-instrumentalist, drummer or bassist with jazz chops would be great…or someone who can play pedal steel. We’re open to exploring different sounds. For now, we're recording/rehearsing in the Montrose area with access to a drum kit. Always a plus if you can also harmonize vocally.

Please check out our tunes and share 'em if you like 'em! Influences run the gamut from Pavement to Elliott Smith to Fleetwood Mac to Miles Davis and beyond.

If you’re in a band/run an event/venue/etc. and like our sound, reach out so we can network and make some cool art happen!
