Car accident question

This happened on chrismas eve 23 If I remember correct. I was Chicago on a main busy road approaching a light. It was a one lane each way with parking on the side. It was logan square west Armitage if that helps any.

I had progressive at the time

This accendit happened probly 50 feet from the light,it was in the processs of turning green. A car had stopped to let a car back out of the side parking ( prob fo the spot) the car behind him went into the now green light, oncoming traffic. He speed up to avoid the oncoming cars, and cut me off reentering the lane. He hit me on my front left side bumber, and the damage to my car will be below. ( I nolonger have his damage in pictures, I know poor on me for not having them still. but it was a scrape to his back fender, no tearing just scratches.)

I filed it, even the police stated that if the story was true the other driver shouldn’t of droven in oncoming traffic to get around a car waiting or stopped, unless safley.

My Inssurance said otherwise. 100% my fault due to where the damage was on his car ( the Back) and at any point if damage is byond the back door its automatically the back drives fault 100% doesn’t matter on situcaton. Which doesn’t make any sence at all. I was hit turning left on a green arrow, she ran the red light and they said it was my fault because I didn’t make sure the road was clear when turning ( again other cars turned, I was hit and its my fault 100%) My insurance has already paid everything out for the other diver, but hasn’t paid me out yet. ( they told me how to get it set up, when I did, I was told that Progressive was suppose to do it, and it would cost more then my dedeuctible and rental car quotes they aleardy told me)

I applied it, and got into talks with management who immediately denied my appel and started the same reasons without hearing my side

Thinking about this last night, it was a 1 lane both ways, if I had damage to my left side that clearly means he was in the wrong lane. Is this enough to argue it again?

WHY IS AUTO INSURANCE SO HIGH!!

Why is auto insurance in Texas getting so ridiculously expensive lately even for people with clean driving records? I’ve been shopping around for full coverage auto insurance quotes and it feels like every company wants a different price for the exact same car and coverage. One company quoted me almost double what another one did and now I’m confused what’s actually considered a “good” rate in 2026. Are rates going up everywhere because of accidents, uninsured drivers, hail claims, lawsuits, car theft, inflation, or are insurance companies just getting greedy at this point? Curious what everybody else in Texas is paying right now for liability, full coverage, SR22, young drivers, or high risk auto insurance.

The Dennis Cereal Situation

Please delete if not allowed

PA: You are at standstill at a red light enjoying a bowl of cereal with milk when you are rear-ended causing you to toss your cereal bowl ruining the interior of your car. Who is responsible? Is it the person that caused the accident or the person who was eating cereal in a moving vehicle?

I know this is probably a silly post for this sub, but I genuinely wonder this every time I watch that episode.

For reference I’m asking about an episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, S8E10 “Reynolds vs. Reynolds: The Cereal Defense”

New Jersey Total Loss/Salvage Title question

Hello, has anyone in NJ retained a total loss vehicle that was 9 year old vehicle or older? if so what was your experience like. Did your title remain unchanged?

I spoke to NJ MVC and essentially they do not require salvage title over that age. BUT they leave it to the insurance company's discretion.

Extra helpful to know which insurance company was your carrier. thank you for reading!

Help needed

Anybody else notice auto insurance quotes feel completely random now? I was helping my cousin look for car insurance and we literally got 5 different prices for the same vehicle, same driver, same address, and almost the same coverage limits. One company acted like he was a massive risk and another company quoted him way cheaper. Makes zero sense. I’m starting to wonder how insurance companies actually calculate rates anymore because people with clean records are still getting hammered with crazy monthly payments. Is there actually a trick to finding affordable auto insurance now or is everybody just getting destroyed by rate increases??

Got sideswiped by a USAA member, they won’t return my calls.

This is in Oregon, USA. My 2017 Hyundai Elantra vs. a 2010 Toyota Sienna. He was 70’s M and I’m 30’s F

While traveling home, with no distractions or substances I merged into the slow lane while exiting another highway. About 2 seconds after I merged into the lane fully, I was sideswiped by the Toyota. My blind spot detectors didn’t go off, I checked all my mirrors and checked over my shoulder. Dude was going so fast in the middle lane with a busted passenger side mirror (I have pics of it from the scene) that when he started to merge into my lane he scraped me from the rooter to the tooter. My driver’s side door handle is about to break in half, and while yeah I’ve got my own insurance to cover it, I don’t have the funds for the deductible. Refunded later or not. So I need some help.

The voicemail greeting to the USAA adjuster promises a call back within 24 hours. I’ve sent emails, I’ve left voicemails with all the requested info he wants, and I can’t get a hold of anyone. I was told that because the guy is assigned as the agent for this claim number/incident, the other agent’s I’ve spoken to will not touch this with a 10 foot pole.

I’m running out of time. What are my options here? The other driver has not filed a claim against my insurance to pay for the damages to his vehicle. Tho his damage was much less significant than mine. Paint transfer, at best. What can I do? I know with every ounce of my soul I did not do anything wrong. He was the one speeding in excess, he has the busted passenger side mirror, and meanwhile I was going the flow of traffic.
