Let your AI (Claude, Codex, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc) use AutoCAD

I've been experimenting with connecting AI coding agents directly to AutoCAD through MCP.

The idea is that Claude, Codex, ChatGPT, Cursor, or another MCP-compatible agent can inspect and modify an open AutoCAD drawing directly — send commands, create geometry, edit entities, work with blocks/layers, inspect drawings, etc.

I've built a working MCP server and I'm looking for a few AutoCAD users who would be interested in testing it and giving feedback.

Currently supported:

macOS & Windows

AutoCAD 2025, 2026 and 2027

If you're interested in experimenting with it, leave a comment or send me a message.

AutoCAD 2027 Producing Blank PDF Exports

I am requesting technical assistance regarding an issue with PDF exports in AutoCAD 2027.

When attempting to export or print drawings to PDF, the resulting output files are completely blank.

Troubleshooting Already Attempted:

  • Export Methods: Tested DWG to PDF.pc3, Print to PDF, and Save As PDF (all yield blank pages).
  • Plot Area Settings: Tested plotting from both Layout viewports and manual Window selections.
  • System Settings: Verified basic layer visibility and scale configurations.

Could you please advise on how to resolve this or assist in troubleshooting my plot style / configuration settings?

AUTOCAD PROBLEM

Hi there, I am a student using Autocad for a fine art academy exam, i'd like to stress this point because i only have to use this program for my technical drawing exam. While trying to snap a line to the intersection beetween a circle and another line, i have find that the osnap doesn't work properly and snaps my line to a different point that doesn't have other elements on it. I would like to add that i think i tried almost EVERYTHING from asking Gemini with screenshots, unistalling my program to restoring my settings. I have also tried opening a new file thinking the one i have been working on might be damaged, but while on one side of the circle the error disappears once i zoom in super closely, on the other side it doesnt disappear. I have added a video to show. This has been blocking me fro two full days :( I don't find any solution even on official websites.

Autolisp fir dividing a plot into unequal areas

Why are Dimensions so tricky?

Does anyone have tips for making dimensions as easy and seamless as Revit.

Honestly, dimensions in acad are such a chore. For context I mastered Revit first before AutoCAD so I was already introduced to an easy and straightforward system in Revit before moving to AutoCAD.

My main issue is how every new drawing always has a dimension that's always too small for the drawing size both in the model and layout space. I actually love how customisable and versatile the dimension properties are and it can be very helpful but I would really appreciate a tutorial or explanation for how to create a simple "work every time" type of dimension. If I need to customise, I know how to do that but I just need it to work first.

No one will truly understand the pain of realizing your snap wasn’t on the entire time

I have said “I forgot to put snap on” countless times and I kick myself every time while I proceed to delete the line and start it over.

Edit: I should have clarified- as my job I use preexisting CAD files as construction lines and draw over them to create the new design. I will sometimes use the points to snap on the new lines. Sometimes though because a new line is close to an existing point I will turn snap off to not connect them.

Thus having to toggle snap on and off whenever I need it and creating scenarios where I forget to turn it back on and having to go back to snap the line.

DXF Coming in with wrong projection.

I am exporting contours out of qgis which I have done a million times. I am working in the NAD83 2011 Tennessee projection with my export. However, when I open the dxf file in Carlson (26) with intellicad, it is importing in North Carolina projection and I have no idea why. I have double checked my export information and it is using Tennessee Coordinates. I will say, my startup template in carlson is set to open in Tennessee projection, however when I open the dxf file, the drawing setup is showing the projection is North Carolina. For further information, I do work in North Carolina as well so those are my only two projections I use. i have never had this issue before and I cannot figure out what is causing this error and Im about to my whits end.

PhantomLayer is an image/video overlay tool that can work with 3DS Max and any Windows app — would love your feedback.

Some of the features include image overlays, video references with A–B looping and hotkey control, PDFs, and more. The app itself is free on the Microsoft Store, with optional premium features that you can try for 7 days. I'm happy to extend the premium trial to 30 days for anyone who's genuinely interested in using it and giving me feedback.

Autodesk license issues

I work in a company with 26000 employee all around the world and i am manager in single smaller branch. Of course We are just using licensed software and not allowing personal computer in premises to not have any risk. Employee cannot install any software within the office. However these does not prevent autodesk as Me and my colleagues receiving threats about user statistics constantly by autodesk representatives.

They seem to collect data about who uses and when and whenever they detect there is a user change they sent messages and requesting us to buy unnecessary licenses. In our team two employees are assigned to different project and two employees are departed from company. Naturally we reassigned licenses to someone elses. This company sent our IT some threat messages. We have currently 27 licenses and 22 active users in our team.

I requested user data from them and these guys told me they dont have to share any information at all. He is just constantly threatening in the phone and send ai generated quick diplomatic emails immediately after hang up. I asked whether customer relations mean anything to autodesk he quickly replied he is not with customer care and he only wants to collect money we owe to them.

The audacity. I am really tired of this approach. Just because they have some sort of monopoly in market does not mean they can treat customers like that. I will take action, i am working on procedure to move to alternative now. Open to any suggestion

Estriado interno

AutoCAD learning sources

Where can I learn AutoCAD for free from beginner to expert? I am well aware that I should start from 2D before jumping right away to 3D, so please rest assured and excluded those discussions. I genuinely want to learn AutoCAD for free since I’m a Civil Engineering student, and my Dad’s offering me a huge payout to work for him. So providing me some sources will be greatly appreciated!:))

Please include any sources even if it’ll exceed 3 or more as long as it’s necessary for each level!🙏
