I'm looking at installing a battery in my home, and trying to work out what I could realistically make from it. Axle is currently offering £1/kWh during 'grid events', which seems very generous so want to understand if it's actually sustainable or whether they're just subsidising it right now to buy consumers? Does anyone actually know what these 'grid events' are? They don't seem to align with DFS from what I can see - and even if they did it would be way lower than £1/kWh, and likewise that's way too high for wholesale trading?

I have the API in apps yaml and it regularly polls the axle server looking for events. Will it automatically export if I have it set to self dispatch in Axle? I don’t fancy it messing with my settings, although I don’t think Solis inverters have too many issues with the resets.

Do I need extra settings or will predbat see the event, schedule it accordingly and export automatically?

Pretty simple question... Has anyone actually had a short notice event since the option to opt into these was added to the account settings?

Here in the North East i've had plenty of events (about 11 since middle july) but not one seems to have been a short notice event, they have all be scheduled the day before.

A popular VPP provider recently announced support for my AlphaESS battery and I was very keen and happy to set it up.

Only after setup I noticed Octopus don’t allow VPPs with IOG and only support Charge Pack.

We’re on an old FIT scheme with another supplier from solar and have never exported anything via Octopus before

Questions to the group:

1. I‘m guessing if we continue exporting the battery via the VPP Octopus could cancel/change our IOG contract?
2. We use a lot of (probably over complicated) automations via Home Assistant to manage the battery and IOG charging - I can’t see much online about Charge Pack being available through API etc
