Ode to Zentangle
An art form where you cannot make a mistake,
and you might not even know what you are going to make.
All you really need are paper and a pen,
and before you know it, you can be so zen.
It might turn out to look noodles, maybe even poodles,
or maybe just some super funky doodles.
Sometimes it turns out to be a beauty,
but to make it one, you have no duty.
It’s really about being mindful of each stroke,
and the level of chill it can provoke.
It’s kind of like a brain massage,
while making a doodle collage.
More often than not, tangling gets me into flow state,
I must admit, this Zentangle thing is pretty great!

Shades of night

For Luving Elderberry 💖
My two latest projects. These are memorial pieces for one if my clients. The first one is Sadie a mixed breed dog that passed last year, the Second is Josie a French Bulldog that passed two months ago. I loved those dogs very much but had convinced myself I couldn't draw dogs. But these were done in a pop art style and I added the Zentangle inspired spirals in the background. My clients loved them!!
For context: these are the first pieces I've been able to do in months. Life got very hard for a long time. So I'm happy to report, that my artist block is dissolved, life had calmed down, and yes, I can draw dogs!!

For Living Elderberry
What I did today. Charcoal sticks. I need some real compressed charcoal, these sticks are crumbly and don't stay on the page.
