Hello guys. I am having an issue with my BMW G30 (B47) RWD. It is vibrating at 1300-1700rpms when it is in 3-6 gears. One thing to mention that is when I drive aggresively I feel nothing wrong with it, drives smoothly, same when I drive it really calm. But when I drive it in a perfectly normal way, it is vibrating sometimes. What could be causing this?

I’m looking at buying a 2021 or newer BMW 540i, and I’m torn between the xDrive (AWD) and the RWD version.

I’d love to hear from people who have actually owned or spent a good amount of time with either one.

A few questions:
Have you had any major problems with the xDrive system?

Has the AWD system been reliable long-term?

Have you had to replace or repair anything related to xDrive (transfer case, front differential, CV axles, etc.)?

If you’ve owned both, which one would you buy again and why?

I’m looking for honest personal experiences—both the good and the bad.

I’d really appreciate hearing about your mileage, maintenance history, and whether you’d choose the same drivetrain again.

2017 BMW 540i xDrive B58 readiness issue:

Bought the car recently and noticed O2 sensor and catalyst monitors were not getting ready. After that, it threw active grille flap codes P059F/P05A0. I used BimmerUtility to code the active grille flaps as not installed, cleared the codes, and now there is no CEL and no current/pending/permanent codes.

Problem is, after about 500+ miles, these monitors still won’t set:
O2 Sensor: Not Ready
Catalyst: Not Ready
Fuel System: Not Ready
Car enters closed loop, coolant gets to about 226°F, charging voltage is about 14V, and fuel trims/lambda look normal. Car feels completely stock.

ISTA shows S0777: engine tuning suspected/detected by automated check, but I don’t know if the car was ever tuned or just flashed/programmed before.
What should I do next? Revert the grille flap coding and drive again, fix the grille flaps, or reflash/program DME back to stock?

Hey guys, I’m looking into getting a new car for work. I was leaning into a hybrid because of the amount I drive daily (about 220 miles) and saw BMW made a good hybrid 5 series. What are your guys’s thoughts on the car and how do you think it’ll hold up? The listing has it listed for $24,000 with about 37,000 miles on it, would love to hear everyone’s thoughts and opinions!

Anyone know of any aftermarket skid plates that'd cover more than the factory one? The construction where I live that's never ending it seems. The last thing I want to do is hit something and mess up more than I want to fix. 2029 540i rwd. I've looked but not finding anything for rwd.

I have a 2017 G30 540i with massage, heated and ventilated seats, lane change warning and departure, not sure what else but these what I know off the top of my head.

The features I feel like I’m really missing out on are Heated steering wheel and comfort access. Are these retrofits easy and inexpensive? Are there any other retrofits that are worth the while and aren’t too crazy?

Looking for some insight into a weird intermittent HVAC glitch on my 2023 530i.

On hot days at startup (Comfort mode, set to 21°C, Auto):

1. It blows ice-cold air for the first 1-2 minutes.
2. Suddenly cuts out to ambient/neutral ventilation for 1-2 minutes.
3. Recovers on its own and works flawlessly for the rest of the drive.

This also happens if I use Manual mode, but if I press MAX A/C or drop the temp down to 16°C, it never cuts out. It just blows freezing air continuously.

Anyone else seen this on the G30 platform?

I unfortunately didn’t realize at the time while buying my 2017 540 that it’s got the absolute base speakers don’t even have the door speakers in the back and honestly I want a speaker upgrade but I also want the bowers and Wilkins look. Especially with the rest of the interior lighting I wanna have like a halfway point where I can improve my sound quality but also get the ambient lighting upgrade too does anyone have ideas or tips since I’m not really wanting to do a 2,000$ conversion. Should I go for an amp upgrade and get some random Alibaba B&W speakers? Or something else. Thanks

Car is stage 2 mhd & stage 3 xhp ive heard mixed reviews about 5w-40 liquid moly. I live in Arizona!!!! so hot weather a lot what would you guys recommend? Im looking at 5w-40 or 5w-30 & brand preference? liquid moly vs motul ?

How long is too long to let a B58 gen 1 idle? Read different things and at this point I have no clue. One place said 5-10 minutes one said it doesn't matter one said none.

EDIT: IM NOT ASKING ABOUT WARM UP IDLING. I'm asking, let's say I drove to where I'm going. Temps good drive was 20 minutes. Once I got there I'm sitting in the car with it running because Texas gets hot af. I just had the PCV replaced after it failed. Now I'm paranoid about letting it idle.
